Seen all tours in UK from Signals onwards and only seen the guys perform Natural Science once but wow, will never forget it, best ever memory of any live music ever. Cant think of another band that could nail something like this live.
PERMANENT WAVES (1980) marked the starting point for Rush's full-blown entry into condensed, accessible progressive rock. They abandoned the 20-minute suites and mystical lyrics for catchy progressive song structures, and more human, worldly-related topics. But, Geddy Lee (vocals/bass/synths), Alex Lifeson (guitars) and Neil Peart (drums/lyrics) didn't lose their brilliance in composition, even if most of the track lengths were fit for radio. ENJOY! ;o)
The definition of a nigger is a black person who is filty,Not just criminal, dirty and other demeaning terms.Reffering to STYX ,Merely stating what some others have posted with regards to rap and the affiliation of raping,killing,10 on 1 fights. The name Styx is his nickname going back 32 years when Jamaicans were rostas,And African Americans were not recognised as such.Simply stating that is what all black people are called to a racist and a racist does not worry or care about the difference

@gmorton1000 I'm sorry that you are mad at me but it must of had been a fifty cent lover that gave my rush a thumbs down. And I'm right only a nigger would give rush a thumbs down, you are black my friend and not a nigger look up the definition.
@gmorton1000 -i went to the basement to hear rush on my dads 4000 watt outdoor loudspeakers...well after a half hour the door breaks open and the cops came in and disarmed my steroe and said..'what the fu^% are you doing kidd? "experimenting with sound sir!!! "Enough son or we take away your speakers !!No!!! after they left i found the mirror was broke and the doggs fled to the closet to escape the quake and horror of the frequencies that destroy!!so, son what did you do while we went out ?duh!
@MrJonny333031 Excuse the term you seem to be ignorant of this fact I know a guy who plays drums. His nickname is STYX,to put it boldly he was the best nigger or for that matter. The best drummer I had ever seen besides the the bands of today or yesteryear.Styx could play just about anything and was always in demand for backup.Have not seen him since 1992.But in 79 he was considered one of the best in Rexdale. If he reads this I say never mind these ignorants Phil Styx Case.
@PETESEYESBLUE sir your friend STYX is a drummer not some gang banger. A man of that intelligence [who could play rush] would never let himself nor other people lable him as a nigger nor would I. I'm talking about gang bangers and black people that want to lower there intelligence to people who sell drugs and kill there own kind in the street. If you knew the defintion of a nigger you would have saved us both some time in responding to each other...in my opinion
@MrJonny333031 I responded to your quote.I should remind you that living near Jamestown in Rexdale as well the Jane and Finch Corridor in the seventies and early eighties is that the answer you are looking for because now i live near Detroit.I also have many black friends and they know that term very well and are glad they are not what u suggest i know nothing about
i kind of have a confession here......firstly Rush are the best band of all time.....secondly, bear in mind i was a teenager at the time, was it wrong that i used to wank alot to the picture of that girl ??
Thousands of years ago the aliens came to the egyptians and taught them mathematics and physics like they had never comprehended. About forty years ago, three jewish aliens returned to our planet to teach us something new: music, music as we had never imagined. They were called Rush
@brad159506 Rush is "one" of their "major" influences... they were & still are influenced by '60's, '70's & '80's style of Pink Floyd, Yes and Queen... into the long, instrumental albums. John P. has even mentioned "Frank Zappa" as influence.
I'm 40 and i have seen them when i was a teenager in the 80s . To young to see in the 70s but older brothers bought the albums for me. Thanks to K-she 95 ST.LOUIS MO.
This is the stuff we need to keep alive like the beatles, hey they may not be the beatles but their body of work over the years is QUALITY and no one can dispute that HUH
@tomasg851 Careful quoting bands on the 'state' of music, or expression through lyrics. I'v been a RUSH Fan since I was 11(I'm 48), seen them perform (in 5 diff. States) at least 16x's. Geddy's been quoted saying that the music is about expression, not MONEY, as did Metallica, but both groups hit Napster with lawsuits. Geddy now leaves out the verse " Art as expression, not as market campaign, will still capture our imagination- Given the same state of integrity, it will surely help us along".
@tomasg851 Ha, I was listening to this song on iTunes and urged my friend to listen to it. Just as I came to this page, I saw the lyrics... And Geddy sang them at the same time.
@AddictiveAquisitions: 1:46 is where the song really kicks in... and sadly I bet people didn't even make it that far... oh the mediocrity of modern aesthetics...
@TheCatinthehat712 Feeble minded one? Who was it that said "Those losing the debate usually hurl insults" Oh yeah, it was me. if you need to believe in the Supernatural to be happy, by all means.
i used to love this album cover as a teenager...the way it teased you with a tempting bit of snatch displayed..hoping just hoping...some hair would be showing....!
@jerrythepotato1919 I had the RUSH drum book in High School, this and La Villa took me forever (it seemed) until I could play them all the way through without making a mistake. I remember times I'd make it all the way to the very end, mess up on something (usually trivial) and have to start all over again! Auuuugghhh! That was a level of hell, but with a little persistence, I got up and went the distance. Experience to extremes. ; ) Cheers!
read this.once u started there is no turni back. a little 10 year old girl was raped and murdured in 1945. her body was not found untill 1947.then a boy last week read this and did not copy and paste this message. the dead girl appeared in his room haunting him and killed him. if ou do not copy and paste this onto 10 videos in 30 minutes the dead girl will appear in your room tonight and haunt you and kill you. well you better start to copy and paste if you want to be safe
Yeah, camelsmoker, yer right! In buisness, you have to make money, if your an honest working guy like me...yev got nothing! buisness folk I think, know how to screw folk! They wouldnt make it if they didnt. so you and me will struggle...cest, la vie!
Peart recorded quite a few songs on a small set. And criticizing him for playing a large set is odd. If he can handle such a large set then obviously he can play a little one. I'd love to some of the other top ten drummers play on a massive set.
is a female and has been a MAJOR Rush fan for at least 30 years and have seen them live 12 times..don't tell me women have no taste in music. haven't seen them since october in tampa and am in dire need of another live show. think i'll start a facebook page for women who love RUSH!!
@sherylfloridausa That sounds way necessary. Let's distinguish and separate the sexes even more from eachother. Way to be supporting equality. /sarcasm
@sherylfloridausa and ill be you're best friend, i have been listening to rush since i was ten ive seen them over 30X and will continue until i die or they guit! My screen name is HEMISPHERES!
@sherylfloridausa You need not go that far my lady. I saw these fine gentlemen in Greensboro, NC for the 12th or 13th time, I forget in April of this year. I am male, forget bashing at all. These 3 fine gentlemen kept me awake while driving the 15 hours it took to see family in Ontario from my home in NC. Male or female is irrelevant. I am aware of taste comments.
@SonicThunderBYG lol...his kid isnt bad though. He kept up with Keith Moon's drumming pretty good.Ringo played with almost no drum set.lol. Id love to see Peart on a 3 piece set...hahahaha.
@SonicThunderBYG Nor can Paul play like Geddy, and George and John with their skills together probably couldn't play as good as Alex. But it's the Beatles- theyre still awesome.
@Rowdyrecords55 I agree. They are THE most important group to ever walk the face of the planet, or will ever for that matter. I just think that musically and lyrically, Rush is superior.
@SonicThunderBYG Amen Amen....Been Listening to them 30 years and they are even more awesome than when I first spun Moving Pictures on the ole turntable!
The most endangered spiecies , the honest man . it has stood out as the most important line in that song .

My favorite parts of the song are the guitar riff at 1:46 and then 5:09 to the end.

Peart recorded quite a few songs on a small set. And criticizing him for playing a large set is odd. If he can handle such a large set then obviously he can play a little one. I'd love to some of the other top ten drummers play on a massive set.

Fuck, accidently pressed the dislike button so I had to spend the entire rest of the video pressing the like button to make up for the idiocracy.

@SlowedBubbles only by accident can someone dislike that song....and the fans of justin bieber of course!

is a female and has been a MAJOR Rush fan for at least 30 years and have seen them live 12 times..don't tell me women have no taste in music. haven't seen them since october in tampa and am in dire need of another live show. think i'll start a facebook page for women who love RUSH!!

@sherylfloridausa That sounds way necessary. Let's distinguish and separate the sexes even more from eachother. Way to be supporting equality. /sarcasm

@1KevinsFamousChili1 Alright, but I don't think Ringo can play like Neil.
SonicThunderBYG 8 months ago
@SonicThunderBYG lol...his kid isnt bad though. He kept up with Keith Moon's drumming pretty good.Ringo played with almost no drum set.lol. Id love to see Peart on a 3 piece set...hahahaha.
That would be funny
netrioter 8 months ago
@SonicThunderBYG Nor can Paul play like Geddy, and George and John with their skills together probably couldn't play as good as Alex. But it's the Beatles- theyre still awesome.
Rowdyrecords55 7 months ago
@Rowdyrecords55 I agree. They are THE most important group to ever walk the face of the planet, or will ever for that matter. I just think that musically and lyrically, Rush is superior.
