Wow! I've never heard of her. If it weren't for Youtube, which can be aggravating many times because of dogged copyright issues, I would never have discovered her! From the 60s even. : )
I'm a Dutch fan, and only saw the first video last year! Kim, you got the most beautiful voice in popmusic! Your voice gives me so much fun. The Andantes are wasome too! Fantastic song!
Wow! I love this song, among many other songs by Ms. Weston, but this is the first time I've ever seen her perform...what a treat! This post is greatly appreciated!
45 years after this performance on British TV's Ready, Steady Go, Kim Weston is back in the UK at the O2 in London next month (October) as part of a long bill of soul stars assembled by David Gest.
I always loved this song and to see it sung/ mimed or whatever is amazing. Wish there was more of this sort of footage about.
IMO Kim Weston/Carolyn Crawford/Brenda Holloway, Martha Reeves- not forgetting Flo Ballard- they were the girls that really made Motown rock. Totally awesome.
In my opinion, this is one of Motown's most beautiful songs. A perfect slow dance song with the soaring strings that you cannot help but fall in love with. I prefer this version to the other later version.
This is a great song. I never heard this cut before. Motown made so much good music back in the day but a lot never got released. This is fantastic and Kim looks great!
Kim Weston has the greatest voice from the classic Motown period but was not promoted but for us true music lovers that voice and talent jumped out at us...A Thrill A Moment was the first to catch me and as a result have everything this incredible singer has ever recorded and the post Motown recordings are really amazing & need to be released on cd...this lady is a legend!!!
I really wonder why this record wasn't given more push by Motown. Great footage. Now, let's Kim Weston her due credit for this marvelous performance. Please?
This era of music was the best written and performed with class, nothing has come close since. I'm 43 and basicly missed the true motown era, but good music lasts forever. It's beautiful to be able to view forgotten talents such as kim weston, carolyn crawford, francis nero and brenda holloway on this site. . .isn't it?
The 45 (Tamla 54106 released 6th November 1964)) was withdrawn in the US. Kim recorded a new vocal but it was never released. In the UK the original remained on the market!
Thank you for the explaination about the rarity of this single. What was the reason for it being withdrawn? And was the song a big hit for Kim Weston in the UK?
I am sure it would have been a great single for her , if had remained on the market, dare I say just as big a hit as "Take Me in Your Arms and Rock for a Little While".
no wasn't a hit- her only hit in the uk was 'it takes two' with Marvin. this clip is from uk pop tv show 'ready steady go!' the itv rival to bbc tv's 'top of the pops'
Motown pulled the single so it wouldn't compete with the Supremes singles. At the time they felt only a small number of female records would be played on the radio. Also, Gordy wanted to have a reputation of releasing only hits, so he wasn't willling to take chances on lesser-known singers. How stupid is that. All of Kim's releases were great, and really capable of hitting big.
It sounds like the usual critique about Motown and Barry Gordy. I know my parents were not into Motown music that much, because of what you said about the hitmaking mentality of Gordy.
There is a different (stereo) vocal version of this on her 20th century masters edition cd. Also thrill amoment is a different stereo vocal version too.
Great stuff ...Thanks for posting

So lavish and with the Andantes this is spectacular! Kim, I only discoverd you a year ago. What beauty!

motown was blessed with one of the greatest group of female singers a record company could have. gordy should have compensated his artist better.

Even if she doesn't have as distinctive a vocal or star presence as Mary Wells or Barbara Lewis or Diana Ross, she is a terrific singer.
