But like I said if we had civil unions with all the same protections and rights as married couples take for granted I would consider that sufficient. as far as gay marrige goes, this is the way I view it: leave it to individuals! Marrige is nothing but a contract on how to share the money, land and so on. Gay or not, anyone should be able to write a contract with another person. The word marrige is kind of meaningless. Let's just call it: a contract between two people. If they want a priest or whatever, to make it official then it's up to the priest/church to decide if they accept it or not

Look up same-sex marriage in Canada, all provinces have permitted same sex marriage with the exception of Alberta. Three years after civil unions were legally recognized in 2003 we've had over 12,000 same-sex couples married. Since then I can imagine this number has increased dramatically since 2006.
The only real criticism has been from the catholic churches, schools, and strictly conservative folk. Cenk wasn't totally right, but Micheal can't spew anecdotal bullshit and use it as an argument.

as far as gay marrige goes, this is the way I view it: leave it to individuals! Marrige is nothing but a contract on how to share the money, land and so on. Gay or not, anyone should be able to write a contract with another person. The word marrige is kind of meaningless. Let's just call it: a contract between two people. If they want a priest or whatever, to make it official then it's up to the priest/church to decide if they accept it or not
