Trust me hon...strep throat aint serious. I guess I'm a good singer (I'm not sure, I hope I am!) and I got it. All you have to do is go to the doctor's, he'll confirm it, and then take whatever pills he prescribes or whatever. It'll go away in no time and it doesn't damage your voice.

Strep bacteria if left untreated can go to your heart effectively weakening it. Believe me I know what it is like to have this, but I learned this in Biology. You want to have it taken care of, otherwise you can have future health problems related to this disease.
Hi Katy, It sounds like you are suffering from tonsil stones. I would research this first and would not worry about having your tonsils out. Even if you did this proceedure would not affect your vocal tone in the slightest, I suffered for years and sang in a band so know from experience..

@tiptippinonmydick Strep throat can kill you if it goes untreated. If your rapid strep culture came back negative that doesn't necessarily mean you don't have strep. Call back if it doesn't go away. They do 24 hr and 48 hr growths on the culture and will know if you for sure have it by that time.

the white dots are peices of food that have gottin stuck in the holes of the tonisles.
SOLUTION: use 2 tooth picks or chop sticks to remove the food blocking holes. after holes are open gargle some listerine inorder to get inside to the bacteria inside tonsiles. it wil sting but gone in a few hours*

umm...its not dangerous. go to the doctor so they can preform the rapid strep test. Then once they confirm they will give you an anti biotic that you take for 10 days. There is no surgery involved.

the white dots are peices of food that have gottin stuck in the holes of the tonisles.
SOLUTION: use 2 tooth picks or chop sticks to remove the food blocking holes. after holes are open gargle some listerine inorder to get inside to the bacteria inside tonsiles. it wil sting but gone in a few hours*
*i am not a doctor but i have used this method more than once and it always works.

i got strep throat ... doctor gave me two kinds of pills i have to take for a couple of days ... kinda sucks. The best part was my doc also prescribed me some really good cough syrup ( promethazine with codiene) ... i am feelin way better!

I have it too. I hate it. it's soooo painful. I haven't slept in four days. All I can do at night is lie awake and listen to myself gasp. I thought I was close to asphyxiation yesterday and had a number to call, so that if I couldn't talk, the person at the other end would call an ambulance. There's nothing like fearing you won't wake up if you fall asleep and then finding you can't fall asleep anyway.

F***ing strept throat!!! I have it right now, and I've had it for about 4 days already and it still won't leave me alone!!! It hurts like hell!!!!! I swallow my SPIT and it feels like someone is jabbing a knife in my throat, I can't even open my mouth without feeling excruciating pain! And get this! It's viral!!! The doctor gave me a shot for it, and it didn't help AT ALL!!!!! And I looked it up, it can take weeks to heal, and the test 50% of my final grade DO THIS WEEK and i have to stay home!

Angina tonsillaris was:
To fight the fever: Paracetamol / Ibuprofen
To fight the pain and cough: Codein
Don't forget to drink much. Don't use ice inside our outside the throat. Use Tea or warm water!
Remember that a strep thorad can be the result of a virus: Thats called "mononucleosis" or "kissing disease" - then antibiotics wont help directly but fight a paralell bacteria infection.

I am dealing with strep throat right now. I never even knew the name of it bcuz it never happened to me b4. I have trouble eating, drinking, and even talking. And sometimes when I slightly move my jaw, I feel MAJOR PAIN! I've been taking antibiotics for like 3 days now. but the only thing that's helping is the tylenol for pain relief. I take it b4 I eat. I FUCKING HATE IT!!! I just want it to end now!

It really sucks, but I was supposed to get my tonsels out last year. Of course, I got strep the week of my planned surgery.
Tonsellectomy is the correct name of the surgery, and it depends on the person, whetherthe voice changes or not.
I'm really bumming out cause im on a strong dose of Amoxicillan. I don't get sick or anything, I just have headaches, earaches, throat kills, and i cant swallow.

Yep, thats a throat infection alright....ok, dont even think about removing your tonsils. Leave em where they belong. I had no throat infections for 25 years, then 5 diagtnosed thraot infections within 8 months. Yes its nastly shit, but i got i soughted. I realised that i got it everytime i ate pecorino cheese. I stayed off all dairy for 1 month, ate some pecorino cheese and bang, the fucker was back !...thats it for me, its the pecorino cheese...!!!

oh man i remember one time i didnt get treated for strep throat (BECAUSE I GOT IT LIKE ALL THE TIME ever week) and then one night i was playing with my sister and i couldnt breathe and i had the worst sharp pains and i was shaking i was scared it was terrible and so i was sprawled out on the bed and i was very young so i didnt kno wat to do n my lil sis went running into my parents room and got them and after i was rushed in to the er they said i was infected in my lungs or something. I'm only 12 and this is the first time that I have had strep. The only thing good bout this is not going to school....Great..more homework...oh, and I cant swallow anything but liquids. as in only all-liquid soup and 10-minute melted ice cream. i just got it two days ago. i developed a fever of 104.2 and i was rushed to the Er. i had the worst chills and im allergic to penicilin/amoxicilin and i can't take codeiene/erythromycin because i will throw it up. i was put on iv for two hours and given direct antibiotics into my blood..ive never felt so weak and disgusting in my life :[.
it's been 24 hours since my hospital stay so i should be better within 7 days. i just started a z-pack and i still feel like shit.

umm...its not dangerous. go to the doctor so they can preform the rapid strep test. Then once they confirm they will give you an anti biotic that you take for 10 days. There is no surgery involved.
