I've been having camera issues with mine.Worked fine when i got it, then i accidentally deleted the virtual camera and the other program. It worked fine for webcaming until regular updates must have changed something. Had any similiar issues?
pfff it overheats and after awhile it will dmg, mine has been overheating since the start never affected performance untill one day, and now its cooking the paste inside even if I change it it still wont run as smooth as it use too, and this is my second one refurbish the second one and 6 month same problem gpu lost performance and every 2 - 3 months needs to change the paste on the gpu
another thing for overheat is if you play with high performance mode activeted. i prefer not to use that in games. id rather use it on file transfer and things like that not in v ddemanding games where i will oh your sistem
makes but only passive will do just fine for me. if you wana keep your lap inside clean with no dust. i know alienware has a fust filter on all intakes from beneath lap so i thiunk they are preety cooll ... i dont know for sure but the gaming series from asus shoud hav too.
pasive , aluminium made, and has a cooler or two it will do great. my actual asus not so powerrful as yours runs in load at 66 degrees with ati card . after i tried a lot of cooling boards and cooler master i found it the best. my temp frops at 60 only with pasive cooling due to the flow of aur that gets bigger and the metal that cools lap from beneath. with fan started ( a monster led fan 140mm, riflebearing ) :D i got like 55 or 54 so fan doesnt make much diference in this case. i mean it
for the hot thing you can use some aditional cooler board. i recomend cooler master oh and try to buy one for 17 inch ones because asus makes wide 15 inch and the normal 15 cooling board will not fit right. if you get one made of aluminium its great. you can use only passive cooling and not start the cooler. anyways the air flow will rize very much just with lap on it, i said pasive coolinf because sometimes the cooler on the board blows all the dust in you laptop. if you get one with
to reach the fan? dont open your lap just look on the back for me and tell me if the design is made for easy cleaning. usualy asus did it like that , not like hp and dell that you hav to take everything apart to reach fans >.< you showed the back but didnt actually saw exactly where the panel ended in the fan side. thx
the weird material is called ruberized palm rest :D... ok nice vid i got one question.. but dirst i need to tell you nvidia 260 runs very hot usualy nvidia runs hotter than ati not the ither way peoples are telling.
lets fet down to question : usualy if you care about your notebook life you need to clean his fan /fans once a year or 6 months if you keep it in dusty places. my question is. does the back panel fixed with screws , if you open it can you reach the fan.? or you hav to disambling all
dude i have it, and it dosent overheat i dont know what the fuck u do on it if yours does, i play GTA4 and assassins creed on it runs good. Very satisfied
mine overheated last night while i was playing dragon age origins. i got kinda scared for a sec. i got it from best buy, does it have a 1 year warranty?
What graphics card do you have under your laptops "hood" now? I suggest you get a nIVIDIA Geforce GTX 280. If thats too much get the nIVIDIA Geforce GTX 260.
One more thing I want to tell all you ASUS fans, my ASUS type has a Aquatic-Prototype shell or whatever. SO this means my ASUS is water resistantce and I am able to wash my Notebook in my dishwasher! Cool huh?!?
lol even if it was "water resistant" , it still just is "water resistant".. you cant wash it in the dishwasher.. that would be "water proof". theres a difference. Just like watches.
BTW, if you are a hardcore gamer like me, then if you want to be able to play GTA IV your gonna need to do some reasearching on how to speed it up on this ASUS it really bad playing GTA IV on this ASUS.
Yeah nice machination of games rig man this thing is pretty good. I give it about and 8 out of 10 stars. My friend gave it a 7.9 out of 10 stars. And a few others gave it a 7 out of 10 stars. ASUS G-series is really great too man.
@PaganiZondaF650hp I really would suggest getting a cooler or you'll regret it. Because If your ASUS get really hot, the gut's of your ASUS might overheat and stop working. Even though you have the GLOBAL warranty I still suggest it cause every thing you worked hard 4 will be gone so do this at will I have on myself and it's a little too small for mine, but still works nicely, I can play about 7 hours of gameplay. SO get it.
A good cooling solution is one of those tilted boards with built-in fans that Cooler Master makes (for example). They cool your laptop and provide you with a slight tilt so it's easier on your hands.
depends, I'm going to assume you are going to be gaming. first, you must know that GTA 4 was the first game to use all 4 cores, so if you plan on playing few games made after GTA, dual cores is for you. But if you are playing post GTA 4 games, quad might be the better choice. In the test ive seen, the four cores was a little bit better.
Please post a crysis benchy... Thats all I need to know before I make the decision to buy it. Please run in dx10 all high settings x720 with no aa. Then try shadows and shaders on medium but x1080 with no aa.
This does look like a very very nice computer, but i went the cheaper route and got the best buy version. It is still a very nice computer. The bb version also has lots of problems with the fingerprints. These laptops are like glue to your fingerprints. Overall great comps. The best buy version still runs great and is much cheaper. The choice is up to you.
Best Buy version has a white front with cool looking details on the front. Its really really awesome. The specs are a tad bit lower but it is about $600 dollars less so im not complaining. It runs basically all games at full, the only one i have played that it cant is Crysis. Overall great comp for the price. The model is the Asus G51VX-RX05
But believe it or not I'm not looking to game on this thing, I was about to build myself a really good i7 system soon, but wanted a laptop for other things (specially, since I'm having an 11-hour long airplane trip) and I want it to be either a pretty powerful dual core or a decent quad core (of the few out there) that has at least 4gb of ram (doesn't matter if it's DDR2) and a 320gb hard drive minimum.
MoonOVice --> keep in mind that the Asus G51VX's battery will last you less than 2 hours if you are gaming with it. If you have an 11 hour plane trip, make sure you have somewhere to plug into or buy a few more batteries... :D
I am getting this soon, and i would like to ask if it would sometimes be a bit slow due to the 2.0Ghz procsser, even though it has a good graphics card?
Hey, congrats on getting your lappy! I have never had this thing overheat with it resting on my bed; highest temps I got were 91c, I was surprised to see that propping it up with a book or something underneath it cuts GPU temps down about 10-8c, cant imagine what a proper chill pad will do ;)
you can not turn off the LEDs at the time being, asus might release software for that though. and the two side LEDs turn on when you plug the laptop into its ac adapter (connecting it to an outlet)
One cuestion brother first good unboxing second remember that you said that grease can stay on the front part of the lap can you clean that or does it stay on it? does the cloth that they give you does that clean the grease or oil of the hands
Zalman NC2000 is an excellent cooler for this laptop, dont have mine yet (ordered the 2.8 dual model) but i know a couple of people with the g51's that use that cooler.
If you happen to find a nice cooler that works well for it, could you update me with a comment, I'm getting one in a few weeks for college (my classes have plugs I can use so I'm not worried bout battery life).
I decided to upgrade to 2.8GHz dual core which is 35Watts instead of the 2.0GHz Quad which is 45W because of the heat issue and the fact that virtually no games make use of quad core so 2.8Ghz dual is nearly always quite a bit faster.
I also upgraded to a blu-ray drive too even though I probably won't use it much.
It's a shame about the mouse buttons - the old Asus models were fine but yeah, most of the newer ones are terrible in my opinion.
I've been having camera issues with mine.Worked fine when i got it, then i accidentally deleted the virtual camera and the other program. It worked fine for webcaming until regular updates must have changed something. Had any similiar issues?
