First part: Nice arrange, but what caught my attention was the picture and its resemblance to a cave dungeon in .hack//G.U. That made me giggle a bit.

Second part: The music caught my attention more than the pic (well, Yamame is a spider, but still...). Does justice to the original, which was a freaking awesome song. XD

There has been a time since the question were made, but anyhow I want to make a guess for the second one: if you consider role games to be some kind of board games and you think of dark holes, spiders and such it has to be Lolth (Lloth), from D&D mythology, The Demon Queen of Spiders, worshiped by drows (underground elves) and also known as The Weaver of Chaos.

Well, I was originally thinking Twilight Princess for the first question, but that Half-Life thing is threw me off that. Now I'm thinking Metroid? That doesn't sound right to me though =/

For the second question, I had immediately thought of the Greek spider goddess Arachne, the weaver of fate. But I don't know if she's in any games or not...

Really? Metroid (along with Half-Life) was the first thing that came to me when I saw that pic. *Ping ping* we have a winner, as for a popular Smash Bros I was clearly referring to Samus.

When I clicked this video, I had a little hope that one of the songs was a particular arrange of Subterranean Animism.

When the second song started, I thought: "No way, just what are the odds?" Amazing song. I can't wait for the volume with this update to be released,

Good guess, but not really what I have in mind. Here's a hint for you guys, a certain character from that franchise is pretty popular because of the Smash Bros series of games.

As for a hint to the second question, all I can say is that the character I'm mentioning is in a game that was and is a popular board game, and that's saying quite a lot already -_-;
