i love bdo darts but i am sorry to say that its finished in my opinion, they are losing 2 to 3 top quality players ever year to the pdc. i think the fact that webster, anderson and whitlock have moved to the pdc just recently is the last straw if you ask me.
the pdc players have to be invited to play there games , were as the BDO players all compete through the ranks and earn there places ,without the BDO there would never had been a pdc . Its a well known fact that the pdc dart boards have bigger trebbles and dubbles than the BDO .
the doubles and trebles are marginally larger on the Eclipse Pro yes, but then so are the single numbers so you're more likely to hit them, meaning it's no real advantage other than reduced bounceouts. It's true that without the BDO we wouldn't have the PDC, but the way things are the PDC are expanding and bringing in more fans while the BDO is stagnating with pretty much the same set up as they had in the 80s, its no wonder the players all switch to the PDC. 2 TV comps a year isn't good enough.
It was basically just clear that Olly Croft wasn't giving all the top players what they wanted and so they all left. It's the stars of the game that sell it. Today, you see, aside from the few fixtures like Hankey, Adams, etc. as soon as a guy starts winning big in the BDO, his next move is to join the PDC. I think the PDC is good too because it has no defined nationality to it, darts is an international game today, not just British and the organization should reflect that.
apart from barney name another overseas multiple champion in darts..you cant.. it is a sport primarily dominated by the british..yes they are showing more foreign players now but only so hearne can take it global and raise more prize money..but taylor wade jenkins king lloyd painter anderson webster hankey adams so on so on will win the tournaments whether it be pdc or bdo.
that isnt gonna happen is it considering that he stiil has one of the best sports in the world divided, he is in the public eye and this response feature is for people to use there right to give opinion on the film above...i'm sure he is a nice person but as for the bdo it is in the stone ages and he wont push it forward...hand it over to someone with some vision...PERHAPS YOU COULD PASS THE MESSAGE ON FOR THE BENEFIT OF DARTS FANS WORLDWIDE.
Sorry mate, i wasnt really trying to knock the scottish. Jocky Wilson is one of my favourite ever dart players, also Gary Anderson would be a welcome edition to the PDC if he ever has the bottle to make the step up. Im sure he would challange for a few titles.

But it is really making efforts to grow the sport. The BDO never did that. I live in Canada and just a few years ago darts would be on TV maybe twice a year, but now, the PDC premier league, world matchplay darts, and sometimes other tournaments are on at least 3 nights per week and several shows on a sunday on Sportsnet. I know it isn't that popular here, but they are making the efforts to grow it in other markets and I hope they can.
As good as the PDC events are, the Lakeside World Champs is still very much my favourite televised Darts event, purely because I grew up watching legends of the game like John Lowe, Jockey Wilson, Kieth Deller, Dave Whitcome, Cliff Lazarenko, Bob Anderson and many other great players including the legendary Phil Taylor :)

John Part is a muliple winner BDO and PDC and he's Canadian so not all British and Dutch
It's true most players play BDO then leave for the PDC to make a living from the sport and to get better and to entretain the millions of darts fans!

The PDC boards don't have bigger doubles etc - they use UNICORN boards which are just a different make from the WINMAU boards.

The PDC is for greedy people.
The BDO is for the sport.
If the PDC is so good, why then have only 4 different players won that world champioship, two of them more than once and one umpteen times?
So really the PDC is the Scottish Premier League of darts because only one or two players have a realistic chance of winning.
Another thing no player has won the PDC championship without winning the BDO version first.
