  • 0:00 nice ass

  • @Paulrallye The Gr. N's have this sound, the Gr.A and WRC sound much smoother at idle....search videos and lisen ;) i could explayne why but it's allot

  • @brkix the cars indeed have a fuel compsution at about 100%, but just in racing mode, at idle it uses just a little more fuel than a stock one(bigger inj) and the ALS is achived by retardin the spark timing almoast 40 deg over TDC, and injecting air or in the intake manifold (bypass the throttle plate, an start the explosions from the combustion chamber, at older evos but is risky) or injecting air in the exhaust manifold, so the combustion is made in the manifold, no burned valves, +fuel bolth

  • @brkix The main reason the car sounds like that in idle are the cams, wich have way diferent angles that the stock ones (to obtain torque and power at low rpm, a gr.n evo revs to maximum 6000 rpm, compare to allmoast 8000 stock)and it needs ALS to obtain full boost at 2500 (idle is at 1800-2000rpm) the stock turbo wich they use produces full boost without ALS at 3500+ rpm, so the would hav a verry shor power band

  • what a beautiful car!!!!!

  • very good¡¡ mui bueno quisiera un auto como ese

  • I love the sound of the idling rally cars. As rogerrbt said - the main reason for this sound is mapping and the anti lag system. Nice movie though.

  • mainly it is the aggressive camshafts that make the car sound like this.

  • what do you mean by an 'aggressive' camshaft

  • Okey, thanks for clearing it up man :)

  • Okey, I thought it was because it just had a full pipe straight back but thanks for answering :)

  • straight pipe definitevly helps for that sound, but main reason is fuel, and engine itself.

  • you have got no idea what you are talking about. fuel, buehehehehe.

  • fact that it is using around 80-100 liters of fuel on 100 km (of ss) has absolutely nothing to do with it?

of course sound is manly form camshafts, and late valve openenigs and closings when it is in idle.

tell me you know what bang is? and how it is achieved?

  • @brkix wow man you're a car genius...bangs were produced by the fuel mixture?that's a first ! try to read about ALS and then give answers about the bangs!

  • truth is you are both correct but both incorrect at the same time. this senario is a grp N car it runs a system calle anti lag which reduces lag from the turbo when setting off. It it runs a open throttle system and the rpm at idle is limmited not buy the amount of fuel in the engine and the trottle buterfly position but buy cutting spark plugs, hence the lumpy idle. it allows air to constantly pass through the turbo keeping it spinning and a even pressure on both exhaust and inlet side turbo.

  • how ever lumpy cams and inlet timings are also common to make this sound on grp A and WRC engines, Grp N is a standard Motor. fellony 1 is also correct abt the fuel, and this is what cuses the popping and flames that come from the exhausts as the unburn fuel ignites in the hot turbo or the cat converters. these cars do do very low mpg on expensive race fuel. so you are both correct in very different ways.

  • Hey man, how come rally cars sound that way?

  • they spend about 100 litres of gasoline on 100 km. there is too mutch gasoline injected to cylinders because of cooling, more power etc.

one litre costs 7 euros (about 10$ i think).

    so not verry cheap :-)

  • You're not exacly right. WRC cars spend 100 litres per 100 km. This Lancer is group N spec. so it's a little bit less. And the main reason of that kind of sound is mapping. Electronic steering works on rally program. Your answeer was good but not complete. BTW great movie. I'm adding to fav.
