  • @959chris He did, he was the longest reigning emperor of the colonial period, and it was not his choice when he was deposed, it was done to him and even then he was not exiled until around 1916 or 17 when his son also tried to rebel against the French and they were both sent to an island in the Indian Ocean.

  • @MadMonarchist oh, how much power did the emperors have under French occupation, was the throne retained ceremonially to keep stability or did the Vietnamese emperors still hold power
