it seems the Dreil are easiest to play as and Sorin are hardest. im thinking cuz of resource availability. it seems theres not as much stone in the game but theres loads of crystal and wood.

i love this game but i hate how i cant win with Sorin. why do the Colonists and Sorin have to fight? surely they can share the planet and team up against the Dreil.

I have Dark Planet and the greatest flaw was its Campaign which was biased in favor of the Colonists.

I actually had to use cheats to beat the Sorin Campaign and the second-to-last Mission with the Dreil is just simply IMPOSSIBLE because the Colonists have Towers and Barracks.

@LuigianoMariano though the way you expressed yourself was kinda weird (it was impossible beacuse they had towers, a basic unit and barracks, a basic unit producer), i agree with the fact that the mission was totally impossible.

For the second-to-last Mission as the Sorin, I had to use the "edgiesrock" cheat to get free mana because the only way to safely destroy the Colonist Blockade Base was to constantly cast Meteor on it until all of the Buildings that produce units were destroyed.

As for the second-to-last Mission as the Dreil, it simply cannot be beaten at all.

You have too few units to work with while the Colonists have Barracks to create more units and Towers which are just too much for your small force to destroy without losing one or more units.

The only way to beat that mission is to actually use a trainer to modify the game.

@LuigianoMariano best way to beat their spamage was to use major amounts of combat worms which insta killed their basic units, Digins were the best for defensive formations (though only if you could reach the highest tech level).

@LuigianoMariano yeah i know, if you don't spam meteor they'll just steam roll you with infantry... the best way around that sort of crap was to get a group stompers have priests keep healing them as they smashed all the buildings but if you feel like taking a layed back approach, setting a line of castor archers and waiting for them to run of men and resources worked pretty well too.

So how is it with that "egdiesrock" cheat? Can it be used anytime during campaign (by merely typing "edgiesrock" in-game), or do you have to create a profile named so?

1. Create a profile named "edgiesrock"

2. During gameplay, press Space to get free resources.

@LuigianoMariano Just finished Sorin campaign - without using "edgiesrock" cheat. Second-to-last mission was no problem at all - I finished it on first approach, and lost only about a half of my force. Generally, this campaign does not seem so hard at all - usually only first fifteen minutes were hot, later the enemies seemed to be exhausted, and I held and army capable of destroying any enemy attacking units as they came in.

@Genesivare HOW was that possible? The Colonists had the ability to produce more units while the Sorin couldn't. That's the reason why the Mission was so hard.

@LuigianoMariano I didn't use any specific tactics - I just pressed forward and focused on destroying their turrets first, then I took out Boot Camp and the rest. Sure they could produce more units, but with all those Sorin you are given at the beginning of the mission, that was no problem (they didn't have much time to produce any significant number of those marines).

I don't remember this mission well, because I finished it long time ago (I had a long break, before I launched final mission).

@LuigianoMariano I just played that mission again, twice. At first time I screwed it, but later won the mission again.

The key to victory was to use Adept's wonderful spell - army of darkness. Cast for zombies a few times when you are in base already and let them join your main force. As you have only basic melee fighters in this mission (mainly Lancers and Zillas), they should just keep human troops busy, and let the Archers and Vestas do the job.

@LuigianoMariano So it was basically like this - you let the zombies and melee fighters to fight soldiers - just to keep them busy - and select all archers, ordering them to fire at designated targets. Once you've dealt with the turrets at the entrance, the most important thing to do is to destroy the Aerodrome, as quickly as possible. If Colonist will possess bomber marines, you may as well restart the scenario - this unit is kinda unfair, because it may easily take out even large attack force.

Dark Planet Battle For Natrolis is one of the best games i have played.

Alien Earth is also one of them :)

The game itself is great, but this intro is a disaster.

Completely chaotic and causing only questions in type of "WTF?". There is no order here, no solid races presentation, just bunch of lone marines running ahead in the jungle like lost children and chasing overgrown bugs. Oh, yeah, and a single Sorin Archer, who we see only for two seconds.
