I´m Ukrainian descendent. I don´t know why this movie was in russian. Taras Bulba was a Ukrainian Hetman. The movie language has to be in ukrainian. Not in russian.

this movie is based on book by Gogol, written almost 200 years ago, which has nothing to do with the present day russian state or even with recent soviet one. the story is a fiction, but based on TRUE history of struggle of cossacks.

@ulryk77 There was never a Polish-Lithuanian-Ruthenian Commonwealth, there was only a Polish-Lithuanian. Orthodox Ruthenians were subjugated, couldn't have any state posts, had to pay extra taxes. After their rebellions Polish cheated them and didn't ratify the creation of a triple state (it was removed from Treaty of Hadiach). Ukrainians are Eastern Slavs, Orthodox Christians, they belong to the eastern civilization. Never forget that!

this movie is based on book by Gogol, written almost 200 years ago, which has nothing to do with the present day russian state or even with recent soviet one. the story is a fiction, but based on TRUE history of struggle of cossacks.

Actually Kiev-Rus was Rus, and the Capital being Kiev. Z Zachodem łączyły nas długi czas więzy wspólnej katolickiej wiary (oczywiście współcześnie tendencje są inne), etos rycerski - a nie zbójecki czy nomadyczny, oraz bogata kultura na wzór grecki: teatr, poezja, proza, malarstwo. @ulryk77 There was never a Polish-Lithuanian-Ruthenian Commonwealth, there was only a Polish-Lithuanian. Orthodox Ruthenians were subjugated, couldn't have any state posts, had to pay extra taxes. After their rebellions Polish cheated them and didn't ratify the creation of a triple state (it was removed from Treaty of Hadiach). Ukrainians are Eastern Slavs, Orthodox Christians, they belong to the eastern civilization. Never forget that!

@ulryk77 Yes they were of Ruthenian origin but they were forced to abandon their religion and to convert to catholicism if they wished to keep their property and privileges. They were polonized, assimilated. Orthodox people were given almost NO RIGHTS. Or do you think that dozens of bloody rebellions of Ukrainians came from good life?

@ulryk77 Ok, troll, I quit the discussion. Poland is a failed empire, it paralyzed itself from 1700 on while Russia became a great power. The Russian achievements in technique, science, arts and sports are unreachable for that pitiful small loser state that is Poland today. In 17th century it could develop the other way round but... Z tego co widziałem w trailerze to całkiem ładne widoczki( czego nie było np. w OiM) kostiumy i charakteryzacja też niczego sobie chętnie obejrze chociaż nie oczekuje fajerwerków. Na pewno tak samo głupi i zakłamany co 1612.
Lepiej skończcie z tymi bezwartościowymi komentarzami, bo to i tak nie zmieni tego, że ruscy to przygłupi, zakłamany i dumny nie wiadomo z czego naród.
A ty Grzesi z takim nazwiskiem lepiej się nie wychylaj, bo ktoś może sobie coś pomyśleć... :D
