Nice cover. Yours is the first that doesn't sound like the muffled sound of foil crumpling, and I can actually discern the words you are singing, correct lyrics or not.
I really like the interpretation. At times your voice shows the potential to grow into a force to be reckoned with (this was three years ago, so it may have already done so--I'm gonna check out your other vids).
@divegator Why, thank you. ^_^ Unfortunately, I don't have anything recent uploaded here, and I think most of these performances are terrible, ha ha. I'm planning to upload a bunch of new stuff relatively soon, though.
As I've said, the truth is that I wasn't as familiar with the song as I could have been (possibly should have been) before covering it, I messed up the structure some.
I did consciously choose lyrical variants, however, that I at one point mistook for the words (like "treating heart ache with hard work) that, once I thought realized they were wrong, I liked anyways and decided to keep them in. Maybe not something admirable; I don't really know.
@AndrewLargemanJones if you dont like the "take" why not just redo one in 5 min.... on a more positive note, i've seen some very sad MM covers, and this one at least has some feeling in it
FUCK YEAH DUDE! That was awesome so wat u messed up that was the best cover most of em suck but urs was kick ass u shld do talking shit on a pretty sunset
Ha, no, I made my email name 'andrewlargemanjones' on a whim after seeing Garden State. Then later made this you tube profile consistent with that name.
Thanks about the cover. I'm glad that I've gotten so much good feedback on it. :) I appreciate it deeply.
i really like your singing style on this because i can play the song well...but i suck dik at singing and its by far my fav song by modest mouse or maybe anyone
3:20am, new years day, Venice California, garaged skater musician kid.......................... loving every second of the heart of this cover. amazing.
Thanks, man. The only thing I can really attribute that creativity to is being really anxious to do the song that I did it before I learned all the changes completely. And that I was really feeling it, at that moment, it might have been the only song I was feeling, and I just had to cover it right then and there. I'm not sure if I could match the intensity version ever again, lol.
This is my absolutely favorite Modest Mouse song. It's insane how when I listen to this song, it takes me to a place in my imagination I've only seen in dreams. Very few songs are capable of that. Needless to say, good job man.
Because in all honesty a lot of that came from an unfamiliarity with the song due to listening to various live versions rather than the studio version over and over again. And then messing up the words and being like, "hey, that's neat..." like when I said "treating heartache with hard work" instead of "taking heartache with hard work"
Nice cover. Yours is the first that doesn't sound like the muffled sound of foil crumpling, and I can actually discern the words you are singing, correct lyrics or not.

Best cover I've seen on here. Isaac Brock is a mastermind and you did such a wicked cover. Ever consider covering Talking Shit on a Pretty Sunset?
megmutzy1245 4 years ago
it's called "Talking Shit About A Pretty Sunset"

I really liked your touch on this song. Very unique, and well done.
Seconding the Styrofoam Boots suggestion.

Thank you a lot.
I guess two suggestions means I should do it, huh? Ha.
I'll have to listen and learn that one first, I'm actually not familiar with it.

This is a great cover. What chords do you use to play this?
11daytripper11 4 years ago
Thanks =). I think through most of it, it is G, D, and Cmaj7.
AndrewLargemanJones 4 years ago
Ooh, there's a C before it goes to Cmaj7, too. Sorry.
AndrewLargemanJones 4 years ago
Woo! I think youd do an awesome cover of Styrofoam Boots

Interesting take on the song.
You very much made it your own.
imringolovemee 4 years ago
That was only partly intentional.
