  • Nice cover. Yours is the first that doesn't sound like the muffled sound of foil crumpling, and I can actually discern the words you are singing, correct lyrics or not.

  • Excellent cover

  • I really like the interpretation. At times your voice shows the potential to grow into a force to be reckoned with (this was three years ago, so it may have already done so--I'm gonna check out your other vids).

  • @divegator Why, thank you. ^_^ Unfortunately, I don't have anything recent uploaded here, and I think most of these performances are terrible, ha ha. I'm planning to upload a bunch of new stuff relatively soon, though.

  • Way to ruin the song for me.

  • @XxInputxX lolz, my bad.

  • this rules! awesome job

  • the beginning sounds like wet sand lol

  • u dnt even sing all the right words..idiot..good cover

  • Lol, why, yes, that's a good observation...

As I've said, the truth is that I wasn't as familiar with the song as I could have been (possibly should have been) before covering it, I messed up the structure some.

I did consciously choose lyrical variants, however, that I at one point mistook for the words (like "treating heart ache with hard work) that, once I thought realized they were wrong, I liked anyways and decided to keep them in. Maybe not something admirable; I don't really know.

  • @AndrewLargemanJones if you dont like the "take" why not just redo one in 5 min.... on a more positive note, i've seen some very sad MM covers, and this one at least has some feeling in it

  • awsome cover dude!

  • dude this is still my favorite cover....you f**kin rock

  • Thank you; that's quite a compliment. :)

  • very very nice.... i love your cover.

  • you've got a good voice for this song....sounds like a softer interpol sound....rikey it. good job man.

  • I agree. This was pretty cool :D

  • Is your name seriously Andrew Largeman? If so, that's freakin' kool!

Also, fucking amazing cover! Has to be the best Trailor Trash cover I've heard/seen! Keep it up!

  • Ha, no, I made my email name 'andrewlargemanjones' on a whim after seeing Garden State. Then later made this you tube profile consistent with that name.

Thanks about the cover. I'm glad that I've gotten so much good feedback on it. :) I appreciate it deeply.

  • Best cover I've seen on here. Isaac Brock is a mastermind and you did such a wicked cover. Ever consider covering Talking Shit on a Pretty Sunset?

  • it's called "Talking Shit About A Pretty Sunset"

  • 3 stars for song selection, and an additional 2 for performing it well.

  • Thank you :).

  • i really like your singing style on this because i can play the song well...but i suck dik at singing and its by far my fav song by modest mouse or maybe anyone

  • amazing

  • Thank you. :)

  • 3:20am, new years day, Venice California, garaged skater musician kid.......................... loving every second of the heart of this cover. amazing.

  • Damn man, i liked that cover, you got creative with it. Sick compared to mine. Jelous. keep them coming.

  • Thanks, man. The only thing I can really attribute that creativity to is being really anxious to do the song that I did it before I learned all the changes completely. And that I was really feeling it, at that moment, it might have been the only song I was feeling, and I just had to cover it right then and there. I'm not sure if I could match the intensity version ever again, lol.

  • i loved it man. im going to go clean my cum now..

  • That is probably the most peculiar comment I have ever received, but I'm oddly grateful in a way. THanks.

  • peculiar is my middle name =) you're welcome

  • I don't want to know what I have to do to get comments like that.

  • I don't always, but in all fairness, I can be quite hit and miss.

  • I really liked your touch on this song. Very unique, and well done.

    Seconding the Styrofoam Boots suggestion.

  • Thank you a lot.

I guess two suggestions means I should do it, huh? Ha.

I'll have to listen and learn that one first, I'm actually not familiar with it.

  • This is a great cover. What chords do you use to play this?

  • Thanks =). I think through most of it, it is G, D, and Cmaj7.

  • Ooh, there's a C before it goes to Cmaj7, too. Sorry.

  • Woo! I think youd do an awesome cover of Styrofoam Boots

  • Thanks, I might do that sometime.

  • This is my absolutely favorite Modest Mouse song. It's insane how when I listen to this song, it takes me to a place in my imagination I've only seen in dreams. Very few songs are capable of that. Needless to say, good job man.

  • Thanks a lot :)

  • i like it

  • Thank you for your support.

  • trailer trash, lives, and heart cooks brain are my favorites. seeing this being covered totally made my day. loved it.

  • Thanks, I tried. I might try to do a better cover, and a more complete one, perhaps, with a band or something some day, which I'll also post.

  • your voice carries really good, i can feel it

  • Thanks :)

  • This songs awesome, and great job on it.

  • Yeah, this is probably my favorite Mouse song. Thanks.

  • Either way, regardless of those small mistakes that are pretty unnoticable to most people. Good job.

  • Interesting take on the song.

You very much made it your own.

  • That was only partly intentional.

  • Because in all honesty a lot of that came from an unfamiliarity with the song due to listening to various live versions rather than the studio version over and over again. And then messing up the words and being like, "hey, that's neat..." like when I said "treating heartache with hard work" instead of "taking heartache with hard work"
