IIRC, depression leads to very deep, detailed thinking which was one of Lincoln's strenghts and hallmarks. I don't remember the title, so it may well be the book you refer to in your post.

He had depression and had to be kicked off George McGovern's ticket in 1972 because he at one point took medication for it. It is irrelevant, especially in a case when a legitimate medical concern is present. Have any of you here ever experienced depression? IIRC, depression leads to very deep, detailed thinking which was one of Lincoln's strenghts and hallmarks. I don't remember the title, so it may well be the book you refer to in your post.

He had depression and had to be kicked off George McGovern's ticket in 1972 because he at one point took medication for it. I personally President Harding had some type of anxiety disorder (just from what I have read about him). I can go down the list and point out dozens of individuals with psychological issues who have served honorably. Don't discriminate against people because they sought help.

Markos is an idiot... He's talking about how well government programs work... Which ones? The Postal Service? No. They're broke. Medicaid? No. They're broke. Social Security? No. Also broke. Please tell me which government programs he's talking about. OSHA; The Department of Health, Education & Welfare; EEOC; EPA, and Fannie May and Freddie Mac are also failures. The government simply cannot understand how the private sector has always done it better. BIG GOVERNMENT HAS ALWAYS FAILED.

This wasnt an issue of a debate. This was simply one person telling the truth to another.
Bottom line is this very simply put: Markos Moulitsas had an opportunity to serve his country during a time of war and stepped up to do so. Tom Tancredo had an opportunity to serve his country during a time of war and apparantly had "other priorities". I see nothing wrong with Markos pointing out THAT significant distinction. If Tom finds that to be an embarrassment then so be it.

After graduating from the University of Northern Colorado he became eligible to serve in Vietnam in June 1969.
