Think about everything Tails has been through. He had pretty much no one, people just bullied him for his two tails and mechanical interest, despite the fact that he was such a good person. Then he met Sonic and learned what it means to have a real friend, and that made him so much more confident, to the point where he started saving the day. Well, that's the official story as far as I'm aware.

And Tails is a fox, he just have two tails.

Amazing tribute. Tails has always been my favorite Sonic character when I was a kid. Now it's Knux, but I still love Tails. The first Sonic game I played was Sonic Chaos. I always played as tails. I was only 6 years old. When I was playing with my friend, I showed him Tails and suddenly I found him ROFL. I asked him why, and he said "He's like a small cat, and he's flying!" I'll never forget that!
