I have thought about handing out Qu'rans or Jefferson Bibles at the protests of this firing and seeing what reaction I would get from the crowd. I assume I would get a very negative reaction.
Mr. Miller, you are representative of the poorest and most uneducated districted in your state, could you work more to end those problems then try to get publicity for next election with the traditional Christians that plague the area?
" I SWORE AN OATH TO DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION - THE FOUNDING FATHERS WOULD BE APPALLED." Really? Yet this is the same Congressman who sent me an email saying he also felt that BHO could be an illegal President by birth - YET REFUSES to even address it before Congress or members of his own district. It seems Miller picks his battles to bloviate upon. I agree with his comments on the Pace HS case. But his hypocricy about "defending" the Constitution is appalling. Yes...our founders would be.
This is to say that if the court ordered effected Christians more than any other group, this is because the school board employs more members of the Christian faith than any other. Not that the court order specifically sought to remove the right of Christians to speak.
If the court order is oppressing any "specific group" it is a result of effect or construction rather than intent. The court order, in sum, was to prohibit officials from forwarding any religious views while acting under the cloak of their position. This is to say that if Mr. Smith, the math teacher, wants plan the baccalaureate service he may do so. He just can't do it while he is on the clock for the school system.
The behavior was not considered criminal because it was prayer. It was considered criminal because it was in direct violation of the court. And Jeff, if you want to "do something" and "not sit idly by"....pass better legislation, do better. This has been going on for years, the ACLU has tried to have the Santa Rosa County School Board do an internal investigation and at no time since the beginning of this action has the school board reviewed the matter internally.
No one can sign away MY rights. If some one is stupid enough to agree to give up their rights thats one thing but to think that my local school or my employer can sign away rights that belong to me not them is as communist as it gets. And all those who go along should be charged with attempting to over throw the government.
