  • KERMIT!!!

  • You WAYY over exposed!

  • Great tutorial, very informative!

  • I love all your videos. I am a total rookie who just bought a D3100 and your videos have helped me understand the basics of my camera and key photography elements.

  • @volleygasm the same to me...thx

  • how much shampoo do you use for your hair?

  • Very basic, but probably one of the most important instructions on photography that you can learn.

  • I just realized I never check the background when I'm photographing people. Thanks man!

  • @JaredPolin Were you shooting in aperture priority?

  • I believe people misunderstand composition. I seems like a lot of people these days simply want to follow a step by step concrete process, rather than exploring into composition themselves.

Instead of going out and trying new things, people spend more time watching videos about it. I believed learning composition comes from yourself, not someones else's techniques. Which is what you're suggesting in this video!

  • blah blah blah .. do less talking at first, then all good :p

  • i actually liked the first Image and the lights and shades that it crated all of the other one specially the one's with the white house like thing in the background was kinda awful !

  • lol. i don't like bugs either...

  • Thank you very much for this video, has helped me a lot. :)

  • Thank you for the support! Please comment & sube my channel

  • you have dissapointed me,you are using a canon :"(

  • @arhamomar whats wrong with canon?

  • love the nice composition in this video :)

  • it sucks that no one thinks about composition so many great photos are wasted because of this Before I started to take an intrest in photographi all the pictures in our family were just flat on pictures of buildings nothing wrong with the picture itself but it was just boring to watch THANKS FOR THE VIDEO

  • I bet there are bugs in your hair... :D

  • Awesome video!

As someone just starting out it was great to actually see all the different shots on the screen.

Would love to see some more of this type of video!

  • @laskorj77 predictable...I dont even use it because its so cliched

  • Thank you so much for this video! I am a beginning photographer myself, and you helped me get a better understanding. :)

  • "Kermit deee Frog" and thank you for these videos :)

  • u could cut the tree down

  • Jared,

Did you get the 2 photos I sent by way of the link to Flickr?

    Be well.

  • True composition is very important to how powerful an image can become. Now not all have to follow "the rules" but .. knowing the rules and knowing when to use them and when to ignore them does makes pictures much more interesting. Not to if you take the time to know what you WANT .. then set up the composition and frame such way that you get it. You get it. If you don't know what you want.. well.. you can't work to it.

  • jared why in the world would you be shooting with 400 iso on a bright sunny day with a still subject at 1/1600th of a second and 3.5 fstop. thats why i sometimes disagree with how you shoot but hey everyone has there way of shooting who am i to tell you other wise? im just saying keeping it a 100 iso and like 1/640th of a second woulda been better to try to keep that iso as low as possible. especially on those noisy canons!!! =p

  • @mikenyesi123 It was in Av mode, I believe ISO is also automatic there. As for noisy Canons, the T3i is very good at noise up to 6400 ;)

    Great vid as always!

  • lol he's talking to kermit XD

  • are you a youtube partner because your videos are really good

i enjoy them a lot, you should apply if you haven't yet

  • the best way to learn composition is to ask yourself question

ask WHAT , WHY, HOW and WHEN .... to take the picture

  • Yo Jared What are you using to Capture the hd Video? Ive been trying to research cameras jw.

  • @BlurryMedia Nikon d3s I assume

  • @handsomelok The annotation at the start of the video says D7000 :)

  • @BlurryMedia he is using the D7000

  • @BlurryMedia He shot this with the D7000

  • thank you so much for sharing ~

  • I was wondering if you could make more interesting video like DigitalRevCom. They make really nice videos and there not confusing like yours, now this doesn't mean your video are bad. Its just really hard to understand and confusing. You talking all the time in the video and us just listening to the video get really boring.

  • @MrBee21375 wow.. u find him confusing? he is talking about the basics of photography..maybe you should be listening more attentively.

  • @MrBee21375 different style, Digital Rev is fun, this one is informative.

  • @handsomelok true but JaredPolin gets confusings.

  • I was using my camera on a tripod, and a gust of wind blew it back and the camera hit the ground, and one edge/rail of the hotshoe is bent, therefor I cannot put my flash on. Is there any way I can send this to Canon, or buy another hot shoe anywhere? Thanks so much.

  • great bokeh!!

  • I dont know if you already did this, but it would be good to see a tutorial about focus lengths and different lenses

  • @zketo1 *Focal lengths

  • @zketo1 He did that one last week

  • @boerenkoolmetworst thanks!

  • i like the way u're talking (:

  • sweet! been hoping Id see something like this

  • Why cant Jared get a real subject, a sexy model perhaps

  • A Canon and Kermit the Frog... I am this close to unsubscribe...

  • Thanks Jared , once again another straight forward video for people like me who is learning photography. Awesome, no bs infomation. Thumbs up !

  • pleasure of photography (z) = pleasure when expose the photo (x) + pleasure when looking at your photo (y) .... composing = taking time when expose your photo (less x) but higher y later. So if total z is not increasing after composing the photo right, there is no need to compose the photo right :p :p

  • He's using a CANON

  • compose people, compose!

  • Kermit is totally in this video.

  • hey, when your doing a shoot, say maybe a concert, or just a model. do you keep your focusing point in the middle, focus and move the subject to the side? or do you use the automatic af points?

  • jared, you need to improve your video quality. d7000 can do better than this. if tutorial videos is your next step, pay attention to quality, hd, color etc.

  • saniestudio.tumblr(dot)com

  • LOL your mom made that Kermie? That's awesome!

  • Nice, thanks. Thumbed up..

  • The best part of this video starts at 0:00 and ends at 8:34.

  • looks like Jared he's moving forward and i like it........yes more tutorials on the field i want to see him on the action

    thank -you

  • I always wanted some description on composition. Covered well but yes mention rule of thirds. :D

  • Hi Jared, can you suggest which format should we use for USB Flash Card? The other day I realised we can format into FAT, ExFat, or NTFS. For RAW which on is the best?

    Many thanks!

  • GREAT TUTORIAL! very helpful :)

  • I have a D3000,

Upgrading to a D7000 with the kit lens, and a 50mm.

    Good upgrade? thoughts?

  • @giantLUKE2 dont get the kit lens. if you are on a tighter budget get the 18-200 but if your not get 24-70 and sigma 70-200. i made the mistake of getting the kit lens with my d5000.

  • @chopper82p hmmm..

I might just buy the body then, and then the 18-200 because i do a lot of sports, and a telephoto lens like that would be useful. i also will most likely get the 50mm 1.8. not totally sure. i mean, the kit lens isn't that bad..

  • @giantLUKE2 right, the kit lens is good but other lenses are better

  • @giantLUKE2 I would probably get the body, 50 and a 35..thats just me though, i prefer primes

  • @MIkeness101 yeah, we'll see. so many good lenses out there.

  • Thanks for the video- very informative.

  • JaredPolin, thanks for a video :)

I have a question, why are you using ISO400, why not ISO100? There is much light in your yard :)

  • I cant think of correct composition most of the times as most of my subjects are snakes and insects and for me spot on focus and timing are very important.

  • grat tips like your video :)

  • Did anyone else notice that Jared actually sounded like Kermit at 4:52 ?

  • More composition videos please!

  • @nosmailliwydocbocaj the rule of thirds isn't for advanced, and the rule of thirds only exists to be broken.

So many people clamp on to the rule and get all kinds of the same, casual photo's because of it.

  • Do you have any videos on tips in choosing the correct white balance?

  • i like how hes always running into frame some how

  • Hey jared, quick question. I'm getting $2000 for graduation. Which lense(s) should I get? Currently I have: D3100 with 18-55, 55-200, and a 35 1:8. Thanks, man.

  • More of this, keep it up - awesome!

  • I've only just come across Jared's videos, why does he get quite a lot of dislikes?

  • great video and fuck the negative ratings!

  • you forgot to use the swivel screen for low angle jared. instead of laying of the ground. well, just sharing my own thoughts.

  • Jared, I just wanted to say thank you for putting out this information for all of us to watch. In my mind one of your best videos yet, keep it up Super Jared Bro.

  • this lens is superb

  • What microphone are you using with the Nikon D7000 to shoot this video? Obviously not the built in one. Do you use iMovie to edit your videos? Thanks for all you do.

  • The intro

  • Cut the bs and get on with it

  • Would you ever shave your fro off? and great vid Jared! im a beginner in photography and tbh i already knew all this stuff :/ hmm maybe i have a natural born talent ;)

  • why iso 400 and not 100 ? i know its a composition video ... just asking

  • I'd like to watch this tuto from froknowsphoto : "How to Hold a Camera" to avoid shacking.

    Is it possible?

    thanks bad boy ;)

  • @binoland he has a video about how to hold the camera.

  • @ashkibala1

    cool where please?

  • @binoland

  • @ashkibala1

  • greatttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt merci jared :)

  • Hey Jared. Nice video. Do you think you can do sometimes a video on how you started out as a payed photographer?(if you haven't already). How did you get jobs and how did you advertised yourself. Thank you.

  • Great video Jared. Keep it up

  • a lot of people i know don't take composition in to consideration when they take pictures especially on vacations resulting in sitting down and looking through over 100 none eye catching photos with them :( Even with a simple digital camera, composition goes a long way :) Thanks for the video Jared and to kermit de fro! -g! you should really give him a Fro as well :D

  • @thanatos84 you are so right, this goes into when I talked about seeing the image through the slide carrier that I carry around. You can compose well with an iphone or a point and shoot and get great images just because of it.

  • @thanatos84 LOL yeah.... give Kermie a little fro.... that would be awesome.

  • love your frequent yet quality content Jared!

  • love your frequent content jared!
