i dont want to be mean or anything but ur strumming pattern is crap. it doesnt sound anything like it and learn how to teach guitar bc ur everywhere with it
This was the first song I learned to play on guitar. I wrote my own acoustic song using the same chords here, called Ready for Love, and just uploaded it. If you can play this song, just change the strumming pattern and chord pattern slightly, and you'll be Ready for Love, too! LOL
Back to the comment on who coverd it ino bon jovi did a cover , because I love this tune but always beleaved it to be bon jovi as I only ever heard Jon signing it
OK!. i get it. my bad. i was thinking of a different song. So no more "Hey stupid" or "RETARD!".... ok?... im wrong, ur right. is that wat u wanted to hear u big ass babies?
Sorry you are not correct, if you can find a Guns n Roses version then please send me the link becuase the only version I have seen is the Poison version.
Thanks and well picked up. The part you are refering to I used D D DU UDDUDU instead of D D DU UDDDU which I stated in the lesson (so an extra Up strum). I tend to switch between these two patterns to keep it interesting, it does not matter which one you use.
I assume you are talking about hte chord diagrams??? They are pretty straight forward, 6 lines for 6 strings, dots represent finger placement on fret board, circles are open srings and crosses are strings you don't play.
Not to thank you the same as everyone else but this will be the first song I'll know how to play on my guitar! I've got the beginning down so far :) Thank you!
Thank you for spending so much time on the strum pattern. The chords are easy, but as a beginner I have more trouble nailing the patterns, this was exactly what I needed. Excellent lesson, thank you very much!
Yes u are correct if u are using 1/8 notes, but u could also use 1/16 notes and make the strumming pattern one bar and change the tempo. Bascially I am trying to keep it easy as possible cause most people out there have very little knowledge on music theory, which includes me to some extent. I just know how to play guitar and can show others some of the stuff i know which seems to help them.
Do you mean the word bar as measure? i see bar as four measures. The U and D only seen one other time on utube. thx!! be nice if e.g., you'd put the count above the U and D 'cause i assume you mean e.g., D DDU; UDDDU is this: 1 3 4&; &2 3 4& Downbeats are (&); up beats are counts 1,2,3,4- I was taught 1&2&3&4& are 8 beats making a measure; 2 measures are just that two measures like D DDU UDDDU, a rhythm. I thought a bar was 4 measures. So D DDU UDDDU;DD DDU UDDDU is a bar or 4 measures.
My music theory is not that great so u could be correct. I call one bar one lot of 4/4 timing. THe reason I don't put the count in is cause it is difficult to do with the video editing program i use.
I've wanted to learn to play the guitar for a long time and now that I can actualy play a song as good as this I have more of a drive to keep learning more. Thanks
The D I play as XX0232 where the fingers you use top to bottom are 1st (on 2), 3rd (on 3), 2nd (on 2). The Cadd9 I play as X32033 where the fingers you use top to bottom are 2nd (on 3), 1st (on 3), 3rd (on 3), 4th (on 3).
Great work! Like others have said, it helps out tremendously to show the strum pattern as well. But how about the end of the song? Exactly what chord/strings do you play at the 'very end?' Thx.
Sorry to bug you but being that I'm a beginner, I can't seem to tell exactly which notes you play individually - any chance you can give some details? It looks like the VERY last strum is all 6 strings of the G chord, right?
Hold a G chord, lift 1st finger off 2nd fret, pick low E, A, D strings, then on low E string pick open and then 2nd fret and then a slow strum of the G chord all strings.
Thanks a lot! I'm trying to pick apart your cover of this song and noticed (or maybe I'm wrong) that you didn't cover the details (ie strumming) of the 'main' solo that includes the 'knocking' on the guitar. Any chance of getting that part too? Thx!
I didn't cover that part becuase I am playing just single down strums and Vince is playing that part with the Knocking, I can't remember exactly what he does but it is probably something like D (knock) UDU?? I will have a listen again when I have a chance
Ha ha yea I just googled it , lol I remember that one too! catchy but not a patch on this song . hell this is one helluva strumming pattern to remember , im almost there . bit of improvisation . thanks once again , great lessons .

Wait when u say tune down half a step u mean for example the g note in the g cord would sound like an f sharp right
Avatarlover519 2 years ago
Yeah but you just tune down the whole guitar so it would be Eb, Ab, Db, Gb, Bb, Eb.
educationalmaterials 2 years ago
Ya but sharp right cus it's a half step
Avatarlover519 2 years ago
and Eb is the same note as a D# so yes you can call them D# etc if you like

you really mean
D DDU; UDDDU and then DDDDU; UDDDU 'cause DDDDU is 1, 2, 3, 4& but i assume you're showing it
DD DDU to make it simple to show it looks like
D DDU UDDDU , right? Trouble with learning by ear is it doesn't account for rests and things like that but it does allow us to learn faster.
