  • See this is how to do a great soundtrack for a handheld console version of a SNES game. Take note, DKC 2 GBA version...

  • Sounds so fierce!! Like a huge final battle is mounting...

  • I am glad to see people showing respect to this beat off of the gameboy version ! It surprised me years ago when I first heard this off Donkeykong land 2 for the gameboy ! It sounds better than the SNES version for some reason, which doesnt happen often but they actually did a good job with the little technology they had on gameboy's version ! This wasn't the only beat that sounded better on gameboy's version either but other people would have to really be into game beats to understand that !

  • i used to love this music, i was so good at hornet hole, it was my best level.

  • This definitely sounds better than the SNES version. While the SNES version just sounds like some sort of cool techno beat or something, this actually gets shivers down my spine when I listen to it.

  • I must say that Grant Kirkhope did a great job with this game's soundtrack, despite being limited with the Game Boy's strict hardware limitations. This or Hot-Head Bop may be the best in DKL2's soundtrack.

  • lol were so nerdy;D

  • The Game Boy is capable of programmable wave, so why didn't they just put the SNES version on that?

  • @nensondubois You have to realize how small Game Boy cartridges are, digitally. Using the programmable wave channel to play even a short wave sample is taking a lot of space, much less an entire soundtrack. There's a reason it's usually only used for simple triangle or sawtooth waves.

  • @Plastiware Well, they could have at least used the SPC soundtrack to be heard only on the Super Game Boy using the JMP_TRN command, if not regular DMG hardware, though it would have been impressive if they spent loads of memory to use the wave channel.

  • I prefer this one to the SNES version, because I prefer the sharp sound of the Gameboy's music thing.

  • this is the best sound from this game - awesome wild !

  • i think the snes versions are better

  • lol i remix original notes and instruments in midi form and make it gxscc wav and its nothing like this =D

  • WOW THIS IS AS EPIC AS THE ORIGINAL!

  • i had this game

sadly i gave my gameboy to my cousin and my gameboy advanced is run out with no charger

i never go to finish D:

    nice song though

  • thx for making this

  • best music on the game!!!

  • oopsie *song* man see i think this version is intense because the sounds are much more primitive lol and theres like heavy skinny puppy drums going on in this bitch lol which makes for a tune i can now PARTY to lol *parties hard with wasp* :P gotta love simplicity

  • *parties to this sing*

  • haha oh diddy kong...

  • I have to agree that this sounds almost as good as the SNES version. The beat is as quick as the wasp's fluttering wings, and heavier than the sticky sap at the bottom of the hornet's hole.

Gee, how did I get so poetic writing about Donkey Kong 2?!!

  • @rangel20

Not lost on me. Love how David Wise could squeeze so much personality out of 8 bits

  • To believe that I actually prefer the gameboy version of this soundtrack.

What makes these so intense, is the noise channel, sounds extremeley sexy when doing drums

  • I agree. This is an example of noise drums done right.
