My question is, what kind of rules do you guys have? I.E. how do you decide when a tank is "killed" during a battle? I've never paintballed in my life, so it's probably a really basic question. Just curious though. Those things look like the ultimate fun-shooter toy! :)
in most games there would be a flag on the tank and also the teams are equiped with a nerf rocket when the nerf rocket hits the tank or if someone gets on it and graps the flag then the tank is out but that is the only rule ive heard of
I would love to make a large tank suit that I could mount on my bike(or some other pedal powered vehicle). I would also love to try mounting a paintball grenade launcher on a large scale rc helicopter or plane for air support.
Qustion; How do you count one of those as 'out'? Cause considering how much fire the tank took in 1:56....do you iterally need to hit it with a rocket..?
I don't know, if I was to build a PUG I'd get an old harness system for a hiking pack and balance it with that. It'd be way too troublesome just to pick up and carry.
Why is everyone flaming your video so much?! Theyre probably just jealous that they don't have the abilities to create such things. I think this video is awesome! Keep up the good work!!!
The larger apc/tank that says "For the Motherland" is interesting. How did you do it? Start from scratch or build onto a frame of an SUV or just put it over the body?
the armor hull was a highschool Metal Shop project, welded from angle iron and sheet steel and bolted to the chassis of an elderly Willys truck. The turret is sheet aluminum. Dimensions were taken from the real WWII Russian armored car BA-64B, except that ours has a slightly longer wheelbase.
The turret gun in Jim Bergles' tank "Freak" used that exact system, except that he rigged TWIN guns and wired them so he could control the fire rate with a dial. At maximum ROF, he could probably paint a barn in a couple of minutes - it was insane.
Make your own and post your own vid, unless you want to pay me to do your R&D. Trust me, the IDEAS are the easy part - it's making them work that's the trick. Our PUGs work beautifully, but it took us four generations of build over five years to refine the design and shake all the bugs out.
Well, there's one problem. I haven't devoted my life to making strange new paintball things. You have : p
I think you could manage to do that- Its a simple design. Go buy a SAW kit for the A-5 on opsgear, then cut a hole in the box with a warp feed to the hopper hole.
My crew also built two of the three motorized tanks in the vid - each build cost over $2K NOT counting base vehicle cost. It's $100 just to gather crew and tow ONE of them TO a game, plus another $100 if we want to actually play (and that's only if the field owner gives us free paint and crew meals, otherwise it will be closer to $600) plus another $100 to get back home again. PUGs aren't meant to be "realistic," they're meant to be cheap and fun. That they are....
A PUG is affordable, while motorized tanks are NOT. One PUG manned by a single player costs less than $100 TOTAL to build. It's hauled in a small truck, and requires no insurance. Motorized tanks ain't cheap.
But thats just soooo inefective compared to sheilds. Its not mobile as a real tank.
The point of a vehicle is to get around without walking. A big shield that walls you in on 3 sides would be much cheaper and wouldn't look so strange. I wouldn't go around with one of those tanks, I'd go hide in the bushes and shoot you guys in the face.
No, the point is to SIMULATE A TANK. For safety, motorized tanks are limited to walking speeds and confined to roadways, which eliminates the tactical advantages of real armor - speed and mobility. So a PUG is a BETTER representation in that they are allowed off-road, which makes them MORE mobile than motorized tanks. A PUG has a screen to protect the operator's face; to take one out, you need a paintball RPG or Nerf rocket launcher.
Of all the things we've armoed up over the years, my favorite base vehicle for a motorized tank is an ARGO 6x6 or 8x8. Amphibious skid-steer, now that's GREAT!
well, you want yourself something small and fast...
Polaris ranger, 800 cc. Get that, do some stuff with the frame, add some armor, and you'll have a tank superior to the ones out there, because you could put a lot of firepower mixed with speed.
Rangers make great tank platforms, it's true, but there's WAY more to a good tank design than the base vehicle. Even a bad design can fight well with a good crew. Tell you what - YOU spend the thousands needed to build your dream tank, then maybe we can test your superior ideas against the existing tanks out there. Talk's easy (as well as cheap.)
Talk is easy (and cheap.) Spend the thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours needed to build your dream tank, find the trailer and tow vehicle to haul it to a game, recruit a crew, purchase insurance, install guns and mounts and tune the feed systems, and prove that you can field a "superior" vehicle and keep it running for an entire game. After all that, you might be in a position to give advice....
No argument here, but then, almost no one plays paintball in order to look more intelligent. I just think they're fun, and have always tried not to let my narrow-minded prejudices get in the way of a good time.
you have no life but i still what to try it

Well
1.) the NW flag is blue in the center cross, not black
2.) the NW flag is no square
3.) the NW flag's cross is not symmetric
+ putting and arbor cross on a paintball tank is already strange enough, but why would one put a NW flag on it???

And how, exactly, does a PUG player become "out"? Foot shots? Does the little screen not completely block paintballs?
I'd like to see a PUG with an independently rotatable turret...once again, ideas are cheap...I couldn't figure out a way to do this myself.
Barcode711 4 years ago
PUG tanks use tank rules, so a anti-tank Nerf rocket or hitting a target will eliminate them.
A PUG with a turret would be useless.
Teek28 4 years ago
no they could have just a turret and be used for protection for the infantry

Weld a box to hang from a regular paintball gun, get a warp feed loader and feed it into your marker from the box.
