Nintendo won't ever release the Mother games because there is so many remixes of hit songs that they would either have to change or pay the royalties for and they aren't willing to do it. I garuntee though that if they did then the sales from it being on the virtual console would definitely outweigh the cost of putting it on.

Earthbound has been denied for the VC. Nintendo's sensors confirmed that it'd be too much of a (C) nightmare to get the rights for all the things referenced in the game, and want to just alter everything, and the original team that made the game refuses to change the content. So they're at a stand still, and neither is going to change their minds. So Earthbound isn't coming to virtual console. Sorry, man.
