My dude! was playing nice and smooth, das efx, black sheep and leaders! word! dope!!!! Youquick question, I've been trying to get back to dj'ing after a longggg break(10+ years to be exact) I was focusing on producing, but anyhow what advice would you have to get back into the scene? thanks!
Whats the tune coming in at 2.00 ?? i remember the beat but cant put an artist to it !!??
also, just ordered my Hercules MK2 today , should have it by the weekend, you got any tips/tutorials on how to get the best outof this uni with a macbook? Iv'e been mixing for 7 years and had to get rid of all my equipment for uni, soo got this lil unit to keep my skills on top level ..
i just checked your age. Now I know why you can get down! We from the same school of Hip Hop! Your style sounds part mid to late 80's style like New York reggae Djs back then.
I usually HATE non Turntable DJs BUT I give you MAD PROPS because you know music, you a fan and I believe you think of yourself on the dancefloor when you mix as oppose to spinning what is the current hotness/wackness. You got an ear and no technology can give you that! A lot of kids got way better mechanical skills than I on the turntables but they got NO EAR or real appreciation for the music - get caught up in STYLIN. You bounce like I do when I spin records. Niiiice. WORD!
actually sync doesn't work well with old school hip hop, or dancehall ( which I like to mix a lot), because speeds used to vary because of tape machines, cutting and scratching etc. I keep the sync on manual. I adjust the speed as I go from track to track; like you would with turntables. sometimes I don't even adjust the speeds and just cut to the next track. Sync works better if you spin techno or electro or whatever music has a steady beat done with a computer. - hope this helps -
Ooooohhh weeeeehhhhh i'll b seeing u 4 the 1st time at 'Days Like This Fest' n Sydney.soooo lookin 4ward 2 it. Please bring a lil bit of the old 2. Mwaahhhh
Look, I had 1200's and loved them, miss them, but when at the time I had to sell them to make ends meet, fast forward 10 years. I've been using Mix Meister, no control surface but you still have to know how to match blends, that takes TALENT. As with scratching, if you can do it on tables you can do it on anything that's built halfway decent. Tables take up too much space and I still have 5,000 records... Most Digital DJ used to spend records so get off that shhh already...
Great old school mix, thanks a lot....
