I had this same dish in Austin, Tx. Heads were nice and crunchy.. The only thing that I was curious about was why my tea cup smelled like fish. Was that normal?
Can you do a video showing how to prepare the shrimp for nigiri, please. All I know is to place it longated on a skewer & poach. Please instruct properly.
unless your tryin to do shrimp nigiri, cooked.. then boil it w/ a stick inside it to keep it straight then cut a piece off the top to make it straight...cut from the bottom almost through leaving a bit to keep it intact and and clean it out that way and u'll have a flat straight cooked shrimp to place over rice
I live in denmark, and the tiger shrimps here are smaller then the ones on your vid, but Sushi restaurants still manage to slice them up in a way, so they woun't curl, when you place them on the rice..(they curl, because they are small) do you know how they do it?? all i know is, that they cut them on the front of the shrimp, but i dont know how?
I don't think that shrimp is raw. Raw shrimp is not pink, the shells turn pink when cooked. A lot of times for sushi prep, the shrimp is cooked in the shell to preserve the shrimp flavor. But I'm not a sushi expert...
I have had Sweet Shrimp Nigri in NY & never asked what makes it that way cause it is raw & not boiled? But is the shrimp frozen first then thawed out? How can I make this at home? There is a lot of fresh fish here in SW Florida?
as always! the wasabi leaf is my favorite! and this looks so good, it looks like something I would definitely try to eat although I never ate raw shrimp before. those shrimp are HUGE! LOL and doesnt your camera get dirty when you get your camera and show us the finish product in the end? :o

BCwrestler2010 2 years ago
slit a line along the back w/ the tip of your knife dont have to go far down.. and pick it out w/ your knife
vraymond02 2 years ago
if i made this with boiled shrimp would i devein it the same way?
BCwrestler2010 2 years ago
would be much easier if you did it before cooking, and your end result would look better as to do it after cooked

You should try Sweet Shrimp at your local sushi bar, SecretLovee. They're sweet and delicious.
Have you ever tried raw Spiny Lobster? Raw Spiny Lobsters tastes just as sweet as Sweet Shrimp.
You should try eating regular shrimp raw, they taste good; though they're not as sweet as Sweet Shrimp, but they tastes good. :-)
