As long as you can use the free side of skype, you do score a home run. But is you decide to use their service for calling phones, the cost per minute can be more expensive than what a calling plan will be from your local phone company.

Skype puts out that calls are 2.3 cents per minute, but make a call to say south africa, and you will pay 6 cents per minute. my local provider also charges me 6 cents a minute, so where is the big saving. as the great man said buyer beware.

@travis4022 Click add contact and search for a piece of identifiable info, such as their email. If they are on skype too then it wll show. If your friend is not on skype then you won't be able to get their contact into.

@darlenebaybeee online, you just need the internet so you are connected. if you are using skype to call them WITHOUT using the touch phone pad on it and your friend is also on skype then the call is free. If you literally use the phone pad to dial, then u will be charged (if you have an acct set up). I talk to people from all over the world with my business using Skype for free.

@StarMakerTeam There's a point to my story ;) Having worked in operational risk management, I would never, ever use skype for business purposes. It's malware, google for "The Silver needle in the Skype" - it's still peppered with vulnerabilities as I found out to my cost.

No, the person you are calling does not have to have skype. You can call a land line. The skype to skype calls are the ones that are free though. Just fyi, :)

After you have added someone as a contact to skype, you just click their name then look for the GREEN CALL button to call them. You will just need a headset that has a mic, or if your pc has speakers and a mic then are all set. You can also use the dial pad to dial a number directly, but this method of calling will generate a cost. Hope that helps! :)
