This makes me so happy. Even though it's several years ago, Gerard finally got his comic out. And he seems so sweet and down to earth through this whole thing. It's definetaly not the same Gerard as we see on interviews or on stage, but a whole different Gerard. He said himself in LOTMS that he changes when he gets on stage, and on interviews he's like "proffesional" and what not. This is just Gerard as a person, and I love it.

I think most of ppl buy/come to signing only because of gerard way and his fame with mcr. I dont think the book would have had the same succes with a nameless author.

Yes, most if not all of the people at the signing are fans of MCR. However, while the book would not have sold as much had it not been for the writer being in a well-known band, I think it still would have done well because not as many comic cynics would have avoided it. As many reviewers said, they didn't expect much and were pleasantly surprised. Had GWay not been in MCR , I think more regular comic readers would have bought his book.

Of course. They expected that for the first series. But like Gerard Way, if you're a shit writer, then you won't make it in comics in the long run. While some MCR fans no longer buy any of his comics because really, they're just not into it, actual comic readers are not more likely to pick up his books.

Even the Grant Morrison penned All-Star Superman didn't do as well as expected cos readers didn't like it. And I personally buy books for the writer anyway, like Jeph Loeb.
