Back then Muslims were a small minority whose very existence was in danger so they needed to to take these measures to insure their survival. Now in the modern world, no such problem exist. You need to understand under what circumstances certain rules were enforced in certain societies. Muslims only marrying fellow Muslims was because back at the time of Prof Mohammad's time Muslims pop was very small. So certain measures and rules were created to insure that Islam survives. Do such circumstances still exist today? No they don't.

If a Hindu does it to a Muslim or a Muslim does it to a Hindu it is equally wrong. No one should have to convert to a religion just to marry someone they love. Look at the sociological reasons why this marriage rule was enforced because your analogy with pork is meaningless to it.
