nastia was injured in 06 and 07 she had ankle surgery and was out for over a year in 07 nastia didnt compete in american cup when shawn won and at 07 nationals she was still injured so didnt do well 07 worlds just getting over injury but still hurting and still managed to win beam and 08 she was better and beat shawn on american cup and the second day of nationals and beijing!!

Nastia won the olympics because she has lines that international judges like. Did you not notice that nellie kim came over during the 3rd rotation and yelled at the judges for giving the chinese girls high scores, and Shawn a low score. Then Nastia went up, and they gave her a high score. Had nellie kim came over before shawn went, im sure her beam score would have been much higher. Not to mention bar workers with a high start value have an unfair advantage.

Actually, Distancy, floor and beam are NOT Nastia's weakest events. Bars and beam are her BEST events. Vault is her weakest. Floor is a pretty good event for her which is why she won the bronze medal on floor! Shawn is all power and no polish or grace. Those gymnasts are a dime a dozen. Nastia has the grace to go with her tricks. Nastia's beam and floor in event finals were better than in AA and she was scored lower. The judges didn't want her to get another gold medal...bottom line.

This could also explain why every single execution score of Nastia's throughout the Olympics was .15 to .30 higher than Shawn's. Nastia is a master at presentation, poise, and polish and obviously the judges recognize that. Unfortunately, they didn't want her to win any more gold medals, which is why they scored her lower in beam and floor finals than they did in All-around, even though her routines were better!!

If beam is one of her weakest events, how can she be world champion twice on this event?? What is vault then, her strongest? Vault and floor are her weakest events. She said after her bronze on floor, that she, "still had her strongest events coming up", and even if she didn't, all you have to do is watch it. She qualified 2nd to get into beam finals and she's THE BEST in the world on this event IMO. No one has that grace and elegance, no matter how many tricks they do :)

Nastia will get more commercial time because she is an awesome gymnast and the all-around champion! It has nothing to do with how she looks. She was the better gymnast on that day as well as beam and floor finals (where she was robbed). Shawn has power, which is so common in gymnastics (Mary Lou, Kim Zmeskal etc.). Nastia has something that you rarely see especially in US gymnasts, artistry! Shawn has NONE! Nastia is in a class of her own. She's beautiful and elegant to watch!

First of all... Ew. Secondly.. I think both Nastia and Shawn got screwed on the FLoor finals. I thought the Romanian girls (who got the gold) routine was good, but lacked the polish of Nastia's. Nastia's was also more artistic. Shawn's was full of energy but also not as good as Nastia's... Nastia should have got the gold and either Shawn or Romanian girl for the silver... I think their routines were a lot closer than the scores (16.650 vs 16.5) show. Oh well. Nastia will own on beam and bars.

The USA deserved it. We performed the best on everything yet the judges rigged the scores against us. If China can't win fairly, why do they even compete. It's obvious to everyone who watches the Olympics that the Chinese gymnists are not 16. You are required to be 16, not a day younger. They are also experienced, they train since the age of 3, don't you read? And why can't they wait 2 or 3more years if they are that good anyway?
