@donn409, That is very true as far as a wrestler having to turn from a face (good guy) to a heel (bad guy) and vise versa. As far as Hulk Hogan is concerned, he was actually a heel when he entered the wrestling business in late 1979. I think it was ~1984 when he turned into a face. In some of his early matches with Andre the Giant, fans were rooting for Andre because he was the face at the time and Hogan was the heel . Hogan was just a face for all these years before turning back into a heel.

Although Hogan became a face he still wrestled dirty at times and had confidence and charisma that most faces never possessed. For me, it was a breath of fresh air compared to WCW/NWA and "Nature Boy" Ric Flair bragging about being a 60 minute man and all the "Four Horsemen's" attacks against the good guys.

Not true. WCW had Hogan for quite some time and he meant nothing to the sport. The defining factors that made the turn mean anything were Scott Hall and Kevin Nash who were among the hottest things in wrestling at the time. Hogan is just like Dusty Rhodes in that he would attach himself to whoever the hot young acts in wrestling were to get himself over as Rhodes did with Flair, Windham, Magnum, Nikita etc.

At that time WCW was losing ratings bad, and finally Bischoff realized he had the key to reverse that(Hogan), so with Hogan being the biggest name in wrestling at that time, Bischoff told him to go heel, and it did'ntnt matter if the fans liked or hated Hogan, because he was the biggest name/star, and now you have Hogan ,and the nWo, so of course WCW's ratings will skyrocket compared to that of the WWE's.
