  • i just bought a low d irish flute off ebay. i cant play it but i do play the whistle. do you think its possible to adapt it and turn it into a low d whistle? if i made a mouthpiece and removed the cork at the end-would it work?

  • @FolkinEll

Hey. Thanks for checking out my Low D flute. To answer your question- It may play but it won't be even close to being in tune. You would have to cover the embouchure hole and cut off that end some (not the foot end). Try to learn your flute, you won't regret it, and buy a new whistle some other time. OR Look up "How to Make an Exo-Fipple" on YouTube. You would have to bevel a new edge on the embouchure hole. Good luck

  • @caldwellflutes thanks gonna try making it int an exo fipple

  • wait, just on octave? mine can get two and a half, and still be in tune.

  • nice rich tone i love the lower notes and how u bring those notes out and how they ring with ur vibrato

  • Nice sounding instrument! I made my own pennywhistles for the same reason. I figured I could "figure it out" cheaper than paying hundreds of dollars.

  • You made that? ... Awesome !

Yes I did. Thank you very much. Maybe I'll have a better video to show them off some day. I have a few laying around, used, for $50 if you're interested. Thanks my friend.

  • I want one!
