she looked pretty sane, (since infection takes under an hour at the least) so at worst she wouldve had 5-7 minutes before becoming hostile if bitten at all. he could've checked her but he is supposedly badass and most likely trusted somebody who had been bitten once before and lost a squadmate or something and didnt trust anybody.
