  • Thanks for the comment. Yes, it is actually 405. I don't have trick plates. I had just returned from a powerlifting meet where I missed 405 and I wanted to prove, to myself, that I could do it. Thanks again.

    I cant see you missing that 405 like I said you made it look easy.

    I hit 405 raw and 430 with a shirt in the mid 80s but the shirts were really basic and I knew nothing about using a shirt.

    For exp. ... I hit 430 at 198 in the USPF NYS powerlifting championships and wore a 56 Inzer shirt that cost 38 bucks. I since have moved up to 220 and wear a 54 shirt.

    I blew a bicep tendon on a 630 DL in 1999 and have not been in a compitition since.

    i was happy to squat 605 and deadlift 575 my bench was a disaster and i only got my 395 opener, even though id hit 435 in training

  • Yeah it should be. It's an ab bench that I use as a regular bench so the next lower setting makes it way too low. Someday I'll buy a real bench.

    don't get me wrong, you're definitely a strong guy, it is just that powerlifters consider bench press our, so to say, sphere of interest, ;) and we like to critisize anyone doing it wrong, lol.

    I am not that good at bench, I am mostly squatting and deadlifting a lot.

  • yea its pretty easy to do 405 when you have a huge tire in ur gut so you only have to go down about 6 inches. Just put your back on the bench and stop cheating yourself.

  • Actually yes!! I got in a habit of doing singles at random times during the day. Slowly I increased the weight until I could do 425 anytime/anywhere. It was an experiment that worked pretty well. You just have to be wicked patient and raise the weights slowly. Thanks buddy.
