Very cool with the Local on the CL&W. I lived in Brunswick for 15 years (now live out of state) and never caught anything going that way. Did see a three-way meet in Lester though once!
I wanna say about an hour and a half. But that was also on a tuesday and when there was trackwork 22 miles east (berea). So its a good time to be there for the local but itd be a lot better probably friday morning/evening or saturday morning/evening
The town of the first train is North Eaton, OH. The local that passed through Grafton with the caboose is CSX D754. It runs daily between Lester and Lorain, OH.
Grafton is where CSX's former Conrail line crosses the ex B&O railroad - between Lester, Ohio and Eylria. The Conrail line was Penn Central before Conrail, then New York Central before that. New York Central called it their Big 4 line because they acquired it from the "Big Four Railroad" CCC&STL (Cleveland Chicago Cincinnati and St. Louis). The ex-Conrail line is double track. The B&O line is the branch line.
I am familiar with Grafton because my grandparents live there. The main line is CSX and the local line with the caboose is also a CSX line. The local line makes two pases through the town each day. The two lines used to connect with each other. The tower was originally closer to the road and they moved it. The village is hoping to use it for railfanning someday. Grafton does have a lot of railroad history. It is a neat place to watch trains. Great video!
Great Video. I am curious if anyone, or if you, know the history of the old Interlocking Tower in the background? I am not aquainted with this area, and would like to visit here someday soon.
Well, I've been reading up on it for a bit, and it used to protect a crossing of Conrail and CSX, and im pretty sure that the branch line was the ex-conrail but i can't be sure. anyway, the tower was closed in the 1980's and eventually was preserved by the village of grafton, and moved 200 feet northeast to its current location. Supposedly it will eventually be opened for tourism. And grafton seems like a city with somewhat of a railroading heritage.
There is and old Chessie System Caboose next to the gas station by the tracks. And even the McDonalds north of the diamonds has displayed tracks and crossing sign out front. it seems like a really nice place!
So there is a Grafton Ohio i was in Berea Ohio last Friday and Sunday and i heard CSX on my scanner in Grafton, great video!

Thanks! I really wasn't expecting much on that line, but I saw the power refuelling and figured it'd be interesting.
