Yeah one of my only complaits with the game is it's forced nostalgia. I was looking forward for something original for this installment but instead it's like they just re warmed sonic 1 and 2 and threw a bit of the rush series' physics (Which felt really slow and unwelcoming for a sonic game). But still I find some good in this game and it only get's better by the passing sitting but serioulsy SEGA, make it more original!

Shadow the hedgehog is to me... a guilty pleasure (something tells me I now have about 50 people hunting me down for saying that) but yeah I whould allsow like to see the next out right fantastic sonic game aside of just decent (Shadow), pretty good (heroes or unleashed) or damn good (colors)... By that I mean don't fuck up sonic generations SEGA (that game looks awsome). Though I REALLY wanna see is tails adventure 2.

@AlluMan96 exactly. i myself have actually played the original sonic games at the time, (sonic 1, 2, 3 and sonic & knucles) and seeing this is just sad. why call it sonic 4? there's absolutely NOTHING about it to justify that. sega has been disappointing me ever since the mid-late 90's. i wash my hands. i just wonder if generations could undo that...

Well colors was a pretty good game (though I excpacted more bolder punching) and the adventure games sertanly are quality games. I'm not gonna say anything about heroes since I'm the minority opinion saying I like it (about as much as colors). Also I played the classic demo for generations and while the jump mabye a little stiff momentum works really well in this (and they FINALLY brought back the spin dash)

I agree. It's cool Sega is trying to re-capture the charm of the old Sonic games, but they basically just copied old levels with high-res graphics and a few other bells and whistles. Sonic 4's are dumped in stupid spots like at the highest point of a spring or when you've been stopped by some level gimmick, so they can easily hit you. The lack of shield TVs in the whole zone(read: game) ruins the fun as well. =(

Please! Sonic fans need to give up already. The game is just levels from Sonic 1 and 2 with prettier graphics and different zone names. Another way for Sega to get be lazy and fail us again. The new Donkey Kong Reboot has a better shot than this as im sure it'll just be more fail. I for one am extremely happy to see that this Sonic game may in fact look faithful to the original with regard to gameplay. I'm excited. Visually it could be more refined, but then again it's probably episodic so that they could tweak it and improve on it each episode. That way once they get a solid idea as to what exactly we want, we can start seeing real good full blown Sonic games finally coming out consistancy, rather than hit and miss..

IE, all misses after Sonic 3 and Knuckles.

Sega accidentally created two fan bases. The people who grew up with the classics such as myself, and the new guys who just discovered Sonic with Adventure.

I personally love seeing them try to give back to the original fanbase instead of babying the people who got the wrong idea of Sonic, but I think they could've done better with this.

All 2D Sonic games were amazing. Aside from the Sonic Adventure series (Which was decent IMO) all the 3D sonic games are garbage. I still play the old sonic games today. It hasn't lost its touch.
