Coincidentally, I was listening to this story on an online radio station just now and went to see the video for myself. The woman on the radio who was talking about this story said that they have proof that "Patch", as the Grey is known in the area, was found later on to be fine and swimming normally and at last look, which was yesterday, Patch was still doing just fine, so no worries for the poor beast.

Gray Whales are Old Spotted Whales and look very sickly, they are covered by Parasites and Encrusted Barnacles.

So Killer Whales are attacking something just because it looks ugly and deformed.

I seen a documentary about killer whales killing a mother grey whale and a baby grey whale. There were about 8 of those attacking the mother and the baby. Both were killed and and sank at the bottom of the ocean. I guess the Greys are hated by the killer whales.
