She didnt feel ready to leave at the end of season 11, the writers need time to write a good exit storyline for her that would allow her to return in future. Grissom said he would return for her last episodes.

I'm not actually sure, Morgan Brody (Elisabeth Harnois) is an addition to the cast to balance the team not her replacement. I hope Marg is taking a break for a while and then will return.
