The UNIT is a great show. David Mamet is a genius. The show would have been boring with just missions, but the duality of the family "unit" as well, gives it episodic value. Thank you to Mamet and Eric L. Haney.

that was shit. these people need to work on their sniper scenes. first off that was a target rifle he was using not a sniper rifle, he shot through a glass window instead of opening it, and he had the cross hairs right over the guys face. the bullet would have hit the floor or the guys gut.

Open window could attract unwanted security attention. You do not see cross hairs at the moment of pulling the trigger so he could have adjusted for distance and the distance wasn't that great to cause bullet to fall.

a sniper would not shoot through glass. it would deflect the round. there is no way to accurately shoot through glass because you wont know how it affects the bullet. and the shot was way too quiet for any rifle especially one without a suppressor.

They do have problems with suppressed weapons - in one episode they were firing MP-5SD and you could hear normal MP-5 sounds.

and there was no recoil at all. and from the look of the rifle with the muzzle break im guessing it would be a larger caliber gun like a 300 winmag or a .338 lapua or something similar.

You do realise on most mil grade sniper scope you can adjust for minute of angle and range meaning if you know the range you want to engage at you dial it in and place the centre of your cross hairs on where you want the round to go. Also a normal pane of glass can easily be shot through anything thicker and you wouldn't wanna count on shooting through it

yeah thats true. but most of the time the rifle is set to a certain zero point and then using the mil dots they adjust up and right or left.

It is as accurate as you can get there is no such thing as perfection when it comes to sniping. however shooting through your standard window will not deviate the path of the bullet that much.

Even in the world of SF as demonstrated here they aren't to concerned about windows except for those designed to be ballistically shielded. also plane windows give a little worry. but your standard window can be safely shot through

Actually a window can make a big difference.

It depends where the window is.

If the window is a couple of feet in front of the target, than it doesnt make any difference, but if you shoot through a glass and try to hit a guy several hundred feet away - now thats a problem.
