  • Paul, as always, thanks for the video, I'm still saving to do your seminar... please don't rise the price, Argentinean pesos are very weak... I have a question, I'm really bad in a butterfly position, I used to be able to touch my knees on the floor, I've been doing the light stretches sequence and the exercises on your splits DVD but that does NOT improve... what can I do specifically? Please help.

  • super

  • Better if done with a exercise ball and locking legs into the bottom corner of wall & floor.

  • thanks for that video, Ive always wanted my side kick more straight up and not leaning thanks

  • I would say just don't kick that high theres no use or at least that's what they tell me at my gym. Even if you can keep your upper body up a sparring partner can easily take you down, maybe high kicks are better for demonstration or forms in martial arts?

  • @650sFinnest That's not entirely true. Yes more than likely you will never kick that high in a fight but that is not always true high kicks are used at times. But that's beside the point of the usefulness of a high kick. The more you train high kicks and the more control you have when performing them, the stronger and faster your lower kicks will be. Even if you watch the UFC or other MMA kicks to the head are still used and cause KO's. Although you should not usually lead with high kicks.

  • @CappitranoBellephant true but in mma usually if you kick to the head its most likely a roundhouse. If you have Paul's control and flexibility I could also see him sneaking in a head high sidekick, I have never seen it done though.

  • @650sFinnest I know side kicks in general aren't used often in MMA and when they are it's a spining sidekick but I blame that primarily on people focusing on Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu being the most popular martial arts for MMA. I know Bruce Lee used side kick in real fighting regularly as does Andeson Silva and GSP. Even though this is a bad example I was mugged and I side kicked someone in the throat, of course that person also wasn't a martial artist. Regardless I left mostly unharmed

  • @650sFinnest Hi! The other day I saw a really tall guy, and everything kicked in suddently. I realized why I would need to know how to kick high. What if I had to knock that guy? I couldn't reach his face with my punches, but with my legs.

And you know what they told me at my gym once? Don't kick that fast, you may pull a muscle... my answer is always "I've been doing it for 15 years", they don't give me any more crappy advise :-)

  • @Dh4m13l wait I am confused about one thing you can't reach someone with your arms but you can with your legs? Sorry maybe I'm a little drunk but your story is hard to follow.

  • @650sFinnest If I got close to this guy trying to punch him he might catch me, I don't think I want that :-/ With kicks I can reach a longer distance and height, I don't need to get as close as when punching. You don't want to become too close to this guy :-/

  • @Dh4m13l yeah but that's too situational. What if he grabs your leg?

  • @650sFinnest if you are good, he wont.

  • @650sFinnest if he grabs your leg, start punshing him. if hes on his knees and has got your leg, just crossface him. its that easy

  • Thank you!!!!

  • I'll do it too !

  • i will use that in my training

    thx Paul
