Listen smart ass. This albums sounds completely different from the first one. Why? Because they runned out of ideas. There are no memorable riffs, no amazing melodies. So what are they doing then? They deliver a more accesible sound in order to try to hide their lack of passion. I don't wanna say "selling out" cause that's pretty easy to say. YES it's necessary for them because they are no longer good at what they do! Looks like you don't listen to metal at all to be sincere.

I was disappointed at first when it was so different from the first one, but I kind of happen to like this style as well so I don't complain. And only because the first album was better (my personal opinion) doesn't mean that this album is a bad one and only because it's different doesn't mean that they've run out of ideas.. could be that they're just experimenting?

@SoullessOpeth Opeth is my favorite band so i like your taste, but man are you spewing a lot of hate. The first album did sound more natural flowing, but they really didn't stray too far off from that sound.I mean c'mon.. The riff at 1:00 is totally their old style. Same with the riff afterwards. If you're pissed that they used a lot of breakdowns on this cd well that might just have been a choice they wanted to try out. If anything though I hear way more melody in this album.
