What are all the David Caruso movies you've seen? I've seen (in order) First Blood (1982) Twins (1988) Proof of Life (2000) An Officer and a Gentleman (1982) Kiss of Death (1995)-my favorite DC movie Session 9 (2001) Jade (1995) Blue City (1986) Cold Around the Heart (1997) Black Point (2001) Mad Dog and Glory (1993) King of New York (1990) Mission of the Shark: The Saga of the USS Indianapolis (1991 TV movie) Rainbow Drive (1990) The next one I wanna see is Hudson Hawk (1991)
This movie did not deserved to bomb back in 1995. It is written by Joe Esterzhas who wrote Showgirls that year. This movie was released in theatres a few weeks after Showgirls and the backlash regarding that movie effected this one. Showgirls now has a cult following I wish this one did.
UHM..i really don't know why Jade, the movie i mean,is so unanimously rated as a bad movie..i liked it and i've seen in VHS i think was 1997.What difference is in this one and Eyes wide shut of Kubrik? Also Fiorentino and Caruso are a lot better than Cruise and Kidman.Maybe these themed (erotic thriller) movies like Basic Instinct and Sliver simply grown old too fast. But i liked the movie.I would like to know the issue of the audience with Jade.
This is the worst car chase scene of all time. This would be fine in a comedy like "What's Up, Doc?" where Ryan O'Neal and Barbra Streisand crash through a Chinese New Year Parade in San Francisco. It's supposed to be a mystery drama, but here it's bad comedy. There's more bad stuff than just that in "Jade." The worst thing about Jade, which isn't a comedy, is that it rips off the great San Francisco comedies such as "What's Up, Doc?," "48 Hours," and my personal fave, "Foul Play," \
That bitch gettin blasted by the car and the bum at the end were both hilarious! I think I noticed that after the bum says "You fucked up!" you can kind of hear Caruso go "I know!"
yesterday I watched this movie on TV and I was hoping I could find the chase scene here on youtube. such a shame the damage in the jumps, I own a '90 Thunderbird in real life, repair and keep the front fascia intact it's a nightmare, but watching this chase on screen is exciting
Note the same techniques from "The French Connection" and "To Live and Die in L.A.", the hood mount camera through the windshield capturing the driver's face and shouting with no sound coming out, and the bumper mounted POV shots, heavy use on the horn, and the engines being mic'd instead of live sound.
Friedkin made a LOT of shitty movies, and this is one of 'em. He made The Excorsit and The French Connection. That's it! He just made a lot of shit movies. This movie is like his other film To Live and Die in LA, a bad movie in bad taste but a great chase scene. That's it!
@QuatermassMan I must beg to differ. You didn't even mention his best film, Sorcerer, which in my opinion is better than the original Wages of Fear and is one of the best movies ever made.
average movie, but one of the best chase scenes of all-time! WIlliam Friedkin is a master. No hollywood bs, no phony music for suspense, no CGI, and the expressions on Caruso's face are great. This was Caruso's best movie.
thanks for posting this. I remember seeing this in the theater and the audience went from half asleep to sitting on the edge of their seats.

I would rather watch this movie on HBO than WGN. They edited out too many scenes on WGN. I liked the uncut HBO version better.

@ZhuangziZhou Yeah, Sorcerer is ok. But I think nothing beats Wages of Fear. That movie had me sweating.

Why didn't this car chase make it on Hollywoods greatest car chases on speed channel.
tamabeats 1 year ago
@tamabeats Totally agree ! I think the movie was not a hit and was not as good as Friedkins other work.
But the chase is one of the best!
