Im from Belize and I think its messed up, not the tourist attractions but the small towns and cities and its also expensive to live in belize, luckily we moved to the US.

Belize could be paradise as it is portrayed in this video. Unfortunately, reality is for a lot of Belizeans gritty and bleak, especially for those people living in Belize City and more so, those people living in the southern part of this town. Rampant unemployment, general hopelessness ( comfortably overlooked and ignored by the powers that be) and a homicide rate that rivals that of the most dangerous cities in El Salvador, Guatemala and...yes, St. Louis.
My cousin is travelling to belize next week to help build a school for the kids down there. How amazing are people who go out of their way to help people in need. <3 im so proud of her :D
maaan... this looks nothing like the belize i grew up in. i grew up next to open sewer and lots of crime (1990's in the CITY) now .. open sewer rivers closed but more violence lol cant have everything!! but i didnt see any of this shit until i moved to the US got some $ and was able to see all of this when i go visit. this is for ppl with cash. or at least US cash.
I travel to Belize often. I just got back from doing a land purchase. For a whole group of families. Stay away from the two big cities and the rest of the country is great. The Cayo area is the place to land. The Amish and menonite populations mixed with the natives and illegals is awesome. Everyone respects the other and live in peace. They keep their government small and taxs low. They are the last frontier. If you want information on the community email me

@mackcid The people of Belize are not scums. We are kind and loving but we can get a little rude at times.Who doesnt? They are no different from Americans. The country is small but it is on the rise!.
@lplayer15 They're 100X BETTER than Americans, please!!! Belizeans are gentle, helpful and very friendly. My wife is Belizean (from Crooked Tree village, 2 miles south of Belize City) and travelling there, I found a majestically wonderful people! In contrast, Americans are the most arrogant , uncultured and insenstive bunch on the face of the planet...LOL I hear that in Europe all the time every year (when we visit my family & friends in Spain).
@ursa41 Yea its just the way our culture has brought us up to respect and love one another. My wife is American and she is wonderful. The 2 culture is very different and we can get along, but there is that arrogant amount of Americans that will never see the true beauty of Belize and its people.

I've been married now for almost 20 years, and my wife is the best thing that ever happened. That is why I love your country and your people--she reflects them! Even some of my family & companeros in Spain love your country. Just wish these fuckin' American "gringos" stopped exploiting it so much!
