You'll be please to know that the Arctic sea ice cover has, as of 2 April 2010, reached its greatest extent since 2001 and has just passed the long term 1979-2000 average. Don't jump to conclusions after 1 bad year (2007) caused mainly by unusual wind conditions and underwater volcanic activity.

This guy sounds reasonably intelligent, well meaning, but he is making a very common blunder.
There is a huge difference between the thin flimsy layer of sea ice -a few feet thick -that melts and freezes every year and the ICE CAP.
The vast majority of the ice in the north polar ice cap sits on greenland, it is over 2 MILES thick- and getting thicker. Sure melting this would flood Manhatten, but it aint happening! plenty real problems to worry about, forget this!

How can that happen if there is a large mass of permanent ice? You dont know if its human who causes this. We are showing a very small amount of co2 into the system compared to the figure of emissions. besides, co2 is again a 0.81% of total ammount of molecules that can trap/absorb heat reflecting from tellus. (we've added arpox 100molecules in 150 years). besides. there have been shown picture where co2 rises after temperature increase, not theo ther way around. best way would be to think how to outmatch the climatechanges and do the best out of it.

the reason for the ice melting and water rising is that it is - a natural thing!!! The worls is its own recycling centre... Trees/plants produce clean air through the leaves etc and the melting of the ice seems anotha one of them things... It clears the ice to show a new "world". If you look back at history it shows that this has happened before... Ok humans have sped the process up, but it was going to happen anyway.

I suppose none of the pro-global warming folks noticed that the '1979' map is identical in every way except the white area to the '2005' map, including the view of the moon in the background FAKE!!! Also not mentioned here is the polar bear population having multiplied by 5 in the last ten years, or that the antarctic has a record amount of ice. in the last ten years on the east coast of the U.S. we've had a record amount of snow and low temps. There is some turth to this shit , I live in Northern CANADA and the last couple of years the winters are gettin warmer , we now get rain in the middle of winter , and our normal temp during this time use to be a couple of months of -30 c to -45 c , and now we only get a couple of weeks of this

Think about how many people exist on this planet, how many of them smoke, drive cars, work in industrial factories, toss things into a microwave that omit poisonous gases, so on and so on. Every thing we use or do helps with the destruction of our ozone. SO in essence, Human beings, are the rock. It's the sun, talk to folks in Alaska or the NWT in Canada they can tell you if there is a ice cap to Russia still or not. Methane from melting permafrost cause more harmful gasses imo. Rotting future oil deposits.

Well, the problem is, most people can't think in terms of thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, and millions of years. Their little minds believe that the climate they grew up with is the Earth's normal climate. There is no normal climate for the Earth folks. It changes all the time. Sometimes slowly. Oh, and by the way. The whole Arctic Ice Cap can melt and it won't effect the Sea Level. Put some ice cubes in a glass of water and mark a line at the water level. When the floating ice melts the water is at the same level. Greenland?? At even the worst forecasts, it would take the Greenland cap a few thousand years to melt. Same with Antarctica. Technically we are still in an Ice Age because we still have Ice Caps and glaciers. Not out of it yet.

Well, It is not unusual for the Earth to be totally ice free. Our caveman ancestors survived a totally ice-free Eemian Interglacial. Forests north of the Arctic Circle. They also survived the last Ice Age. So did the animals. Roman Warm Period. Medieval Warm Period. Little Ice Age. Etc. Etc. Get a grip buddy. Study some Paleoclimatology and other subjects of past climate. You're aware of what happens around us?? Are you aware of Earth's past climate?? And how quickly it can change sometimes??

How did they survive the Eemian Interglacial Era when there were no ice caps or glaciers at all? Sea level 25 feet higher then now. 125,000 years ago. How did they survive?
How did they survive the Medieval and Roman Warm Periods?
Why is there now about 25,000 Polar Bears in Canada and Alaska when just thirty or forty years ago there were only about 5,000? Too many unanswered questions. I think the whole "Blame Us for Global Warming" and "It's going to ba a disaster" thing is a political scam.
