  • @HorseyNo actually it'c often cheaper to build new ones than maintaining and servicing old aircraft. plus other nations will surely be grateful for not being bombed by them!

There's a better video about Davis Monthan AFB here /watch?v=1i9wQGidG2M

  • Looks like this is where all the trillions of our dollars went. What is this for? WW3???

  • I have shot video at the boneyard. its absolutely incredible in person!

  • davis monthan airforce base

  • These are awesome machines

  • It makes me mad that the government just has all these airplanes sitting around. They could be used as lo-cost transportation to take college kids to prime spring break destinations. What a waste.

  • @TheCannonofMohammed This is the first youtube comment to make me laugh all day, well done!

  • @zachlutes I just wish somebody would take me seriously---can you imagine how funny that would be? Have a great day!

  • no small woner we are broke

  • We need to bring all these B52's back into service to rebuild our nuclear arsenal at least back up to cold war levels if not more.

  • @damiion666 Uhh...do you mind me asking why you think that?

  • @smacman68 Because I believe peace thru strength. Never let your guard down and always stay on top of current technology. No such thing as investing too much in defense.

  • @damiion666 I would tend to favor your point of view, but bringing back 50 year old bombers is not "staying on top of current technology", as you put it. These are obsolete for a reason. The cost to revitalize this fleet would be astronomical, and you still would only get a few years service. Better to spend the money on new technology. Maybe an unmanned bomber fleet. Something new and exciting.

  • @smacman68 There's no reason we can't stay on top of cutting edge technology while at the same time bringing back tried and true weapons platforms until we can come up with something vastly improved and maybe mothball some of our over extended bases overseas and reposition them to reflect current/future military realities. But maybe you're right.

  • I can see your point. I look at things like the M60A3 Main Battle Tank. This tank, to me, is still one of the best in the world. I would never retire something that good. Form up new brigades and send them into places that need long term peace keepers.

  • look at our tax dollars just sitting there

  • @HorseyNO Um, the H models that are still in service were purchased in fiscal 1961. Do you have any idea what it would have cost to keep those aircraft in service? They have EIGHT gas-guzzler engines and require a large crew. They have a huge radar cross-section and fifteen were destroyed by SA-2 missiles over Hanoi in December 1972.

  • @jwaustinmunguy your right i didnt think about that

  • I'm just glad the planes were destroyed in peace, not in war...

  • thery are fuled armed and manned on full alert

  • @datzfast The are neither armed or fuelled. Copy and paste the following into a search engine 'start b-52 reduction amarc' for the details.

  • @Tomteeejay they actually have nukes on board ready to drop, we lie so we can get the advantage in a real war. and i dont feel bad about it. In war you can lie everyday if you need to.

  • @datzfast I thought that you were referring to the B-52 at AMARC as in the video. Of course B-52H will sit alert when the alert state requires it. The days of flying B-52s with active weapons on alert ended years decades ago. Nobody wants the return of the days when strategic bombers either broke up or crashed with their nukes on board.

  • It's easy enough to find. It's just south of Tucson and covers many acres. Not only do they have B-52's there but every other plane you can imagine. I've been told it is the third largest air force in the world

  • 1 NUKE IS ENOUGH FOR THEM

  • Too bad they can't bury planes like this in the sky.

  • Not enough!

  • Looks like an old film. Most of the old B-52 bombers were cut up for START before the USSR was dissolved. If you have to reduce nuclear assets then get rid of the outdated ones in mothballs first. We had a couple on Chanute AFB that were display and trainer aircraft that hadn't flown in decades that were shredded for START.

  • are you going to sell the metal to china and europe

  • another example of Deficit Debt gone to the wayside of this side of life.

  • Those planes did nothing good but drop bombs in innocent people.

  • @390bullitt1968 Innocent people? How ignorant can you be? Too bad they didn't drop more bombs. 1 right on your grandpa's head so idiots like you wouldn't even be here.

  • @oldfart387 - Yep innocent people. For example, north Vietnam had been under attack from the south for years. Yet, America bombed the north for 10 yrs and killed 2,000,000 civilians. All for nothing. 58,000 dead and 300,000 wounded all for nothing. Well, except the war merchants made billions, same as now, phony wars, fought to enrich a few elites. Nothing more. War on terror is just one more phony campaign.

  • what song is that???

  • @Blakerb24: "Down in the Park" By Gary Numan. You probably know him for his one big hit, "Cars".

  • @NickB1967 Thank you!!!

  • what song is that???

  • what song is that?

  • All that work to build, maintain, such a waste

  • LOL at the "hundreds of B52s" cited in the description. Either someone was fibbing in 2006, or the choppers at AMARC do work that fast, because as of today I counted via Google Maps only 48 B52s still in one piece. Add to that 47 chopped into pieces one way or the other left out for the eyes in the sky to count.

  • 744 B-52s built.. 68 active.. 9 on reserve. B-52 Gs were destroyed under the START treaty

  • These are just models...not real.

  • *Press 6 for Rolling Thunder*

    "Friendly B-52 incoming."

  • I believe, unfortunantely, that is a boneyard where good planes go to 'die'. My dad's B-52 that he was crew chief for was there and was chopped up in the mid 90s. He really misses his plane.

  • most of these aircrafts served the vietnam war. truely respect to them. freedom forever. fuck communist, fuck terrorist

  • @stuang000 its funny reading a comment against communisnm by someone whos living there. Do you live in fear everyday?

  • Are there even enough crews who can fly those bombers?

  • They keep them in case we get into a large scale war again.

  • i would rather see a group of b-17s lined up like that.

  • I live in Tucson, AZ, and the name of that airplane graveyard is AMARC. It's right next to Davis Monthan AFB. I just love driving by it and seeing all the planes there. Look it up on google maps and you'll see a shit load of varieties in there. I've even seen a few Russian planes in there to, strange.

  • song please

  • thats probably the most expensive grave yard on earth

  • get those over to iraq and bomb the scum

  • there's a thousand of these but why put them as junk? how bout selling the scrap metals to other countries? or sell some "airworthy" B52's left from the cold war?

  • @KIBProductionz

B-52's are still in service, we just aren't using them at this moment.

  • @KIBProductionz Most of the B-52s seen here have been scrapped. The USAF is limited by the START treaty to only fly the 95 B-52s currently in service.

  • It's just next to Davis Monthan AFB

  • Cool Gary Numan song.

  • Tucson Arizona, about 3 miles from my house

  • i hate b52,sorry!

  • which group, music??

  • START treaty got those all chopped up =( sad. great plane

  • All bulldozed now under arms limitaion agreements with Russia.

  • What's the tune over this video?

  • @sportrgu The song is Gary Numan - Down in the park

  • @tebbs94 thank you so very much sir

  • these would probably pwn afghanistan and take it clear off the map just sayin

  • @jacobandjakob1 Hitler would be proud of such genocide.

  • @MoreInfo24 its not genocide becasue we have afgani's living in the U.S. it just blowing it of the map

  • @gio346884 GenocIde does not count if if you do not destroy 100% of the given people in the world? But the US would never just nuke Afganistan, the war profitiers need a long strung out war. Plus they would not want to destroy 90% of the worlds opium that the US is protecting and gets laundried at big US banks.

  • @MoreInfo24 Sorry but I love my opium products tyvm.

  • @MoreInfo24: OK, enjoy your future dhimmitude / slavery. At least your former Communist idols (falsely) promised a bright future. The new Islamunist savages promise nothing but a new Dark Ages.

  • Coolidge Street, Tucson, AZ, United States

  • This video is from the documentry, Baraka. Except now there is some super fucking shitty music overlaying the real, awesome, original music.

  • They're a part of Xenu's new depopulation plans!

  • Hey Iowanfast, that is an amazing link. Thanks!

  • The USAF still operates roughly 100 B-52s, the rest are mothballed.

  • Mesmerazing......

  • ....looks real...

  • not scarey at all if they come towards you...

    jk

  • all this airplanes are already scraped and reused.

  • this is awesome! i saw all of my favorite aircraft! including b-2 lancers, ac-130s, the radar planes (i forgot the name because i lost my model of it), Chinooks, cougars, and everything else (i forgot the other names too) . thanks!

  • @impostirevil sadly, those planes will end in this graveyard

  • here's something I found on the net,

The most dramatic use of AMARC was the B-52 fleet reduction to meet the terms of the SALT treaties. Hundreds of the giant B-52 bombers were set out in the desert. A huge guillotine was used to chop off the wings, then chop the fuselage into pieces. The parts were then piled up neatly and left in place for months to allow Soviet satellites to verify the destruction of these strategic bombers.

  • trust me the B-52 is in the Reserves waiting for WW3

  • They're probably pre-'G' models, retired to the Davis-Montham Air Force Base 'boneyard'. And to everyone talking about "waste", between the dry arid climate there and an ingenious preservation process, they can be kept in perfect condition indefinitely. That way, either their parts can be scavenged to keep the active-duty planes flying for a fraction of the cost of new parts, or they can even be restored to service in a national emergency. The Air Force saves billions a year with this program.

  • @van11111: they look like B-52D (and earlier) "carpet bombers" from the Vietnam era.

  • wow!!!

  • I've heard there are a number of airplane graveyards out west,

anyone know why the government didn't scrap these planes instead of leaving them rust.

  • dude their antiques and this is y our economy sucks ass

  • @KartKing4ever

Well yes, its probably one of many reasons.

  • @darkelfpictures They are kept there so that if the need ever arises they can be brought back into service

  • I doubt it there're obsolete technology. They'd simply serve as an impediment.

  • @darkelfpictures they left them there so that they could be counted by soviet satellites as part of a disarmament treaty.

  • @darkelfpictures: in time they will be scrapped. But first, spare parts for planes still flying, and second, potential secondhand sales to allied nations.

  • wat a fukin waste

  • @TheArmyKid999 I hate it when they do this, make you think war is somtimes is pointless waste of money :? but i love weapons guns planes and war but seeing this sheds a tear. 'wat a fukin waste' - i know a fucking shame

  • @TheArmyKid999: Better to overproduce and have it ready than be caught short. Hindsight is perfect vision, foresight not so much.

  • lol they're waiting to fuck the world in 2012.

  • @MrOrganiic The world is coming to an end period.

  • ha ha ha is lier

  • 32°09'N 110°49'22"W

Put those in Google maps/satellite or Earth and it will put you bang in the middle of the B-52 section of the boneyard.

  • @lowanfast Looks like they're scrapping them slowly.

  • @edj66: That is the plan. First, spare parts for the planes still flying in USA service. Second, sales to allied nations if they should want the planes. Finally, melting down and recycling.

  • Sorry for the typo's. Should have turned the lights on over the computer. LOL

  • The ECM's on the 52 are second to none. They are still potent and always will be. I wish they would take some of the one's in mothball and refot them to cirrent "H" standards or better and return them to service. it would save the taxpayer alot on money and give us some support for our troops. In the least, upgrade them and put them into mothballs to be called back quickly. Many of the mothballed units have less hrs than the current "H"s in service.

  • B-52 planes are disassembled and left visible in the open at the Boneyard in Arizona so that they can be photographed by Russian satellites. Their destruction is part of the START treaty compliance.

  • Song: Gary Numan & Tuibeway Army - Down in the Park

  • ur the bigest fcuk wit ever m8 its real. . just google it you DUMB ASS !!!

  • hey, I didnt say they arent being used, even A10s and airplanes form 25 years old are still being used. My comment was missle technology will soon be making combat aircraft soon obsolete, to 1st world countries. B52s will be used only as a threat to 3rd world countries, or as a show of force to smaller nations. Learn to read what is written, before you comment, and if you want to start the name calling, lets waste out time in doing so IDIOT!!

  • these planes in mouthball!!! Give me a break, we can not use them in todays fighting!! Other countries land to air missles, will kill them easily, they are obsolete in todays arena, unless we are going to fight some 4th world country

  • We still currently use these planes and will for another estimated 30 years at least. These planes can be put back in service but more importantly are preserved for spare parts. Maybe educate yourself before you type.

  • Sorry dude, I stand by my statement, we are moving towards Stalth fighters for a reason! These planes ARE obsolete, for todays fighting combat, any 90s missle technology, can take them out. They are there for a reason. Todays pilots would need a month to learn to fly them, and the war would be over in 2 weeks. Your ending assinine comment, tells me, you need to be the one that needs educating before you type! They are nothing more than mothballed scrap!

  • with periodic upgrades these planes are very reliable. bombers are used cause the allow the NCA to put weapons in the air in a holding pattern so they can be recalled if a crisis stabilizes, unlike ICBMs. also when was the last -52 loss in combat. we used them against iraqi air defenses which were french systems better then the soviet systems they were designed to beat, and i dont believe we lost a single one. please learn your fact and not your talking points.

  • hmmmmmmmm facts are, there are alot of B52s here in a graveyard, huh kinda weird, GRAVEYARD. You're right, we didn't lose any b52s in Iraq, they were saved till after air superiority was established, Stealth was used first to go in. Hmm missile tech, cant see stealth,,, you learn your facts please before you comment,,,geez guy.. Please take the time to read a total comment before answering, it just show your lack of intel. My point is this, in a few years these aircraft are tech. obsolete!!!

  • b-52's are used all the time you idiot

  • are you kidding? those things throw out like 50 flares a minute, outdated missles cant even get a lock

  • @mikebe41: Most likely, we *will* be fighting some 4th world country. The most likely islamunist problems of the 21st century are just that.

  • B-52 at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base near Tucson, Arizona,

    United States

    (N 32°11' W 110°53')

  • the song is by gary newman and the tube way army . if that helps

  • whats the name of the song???

  • is really the f14 that old?

  • came into service in 1972 and all out now..

  • that sucks. the f14 is a beatifull plane. whats actually the reason?

or is it just been to old?

  • @ingz1993: The f-14 is still a fine plane, but the f-18 is just as fine (perhaps a bit better, perhaps not, this is being debated still), and is MUCH cheaper to operate. It was a cost saving decision for the US Navy to go with all f-18 and retire the f-14.

  • did someone counted how many?then multiple that use this quote $150.000.00 each.

  • The graveyard is part of an agreement between US and Russia in order to show comliance with treaties signed between the 2 super power during the decline of the cold war. They are left in plain site so that can be photo graphed by passing Russian spy satelites. Most plains are recycled when taken out of service.

  • I think this is sort of southeast of Tucson, Arizona. Not hard to find on Google Earth. You can probably go straight there by searching "aviation graveyard"... but that takes the fun out of the search.

  • just punch in davis monthan air force base it will bring you straight to it

  • Its located near Davis Monthan AFB.

  • Waste of tax payers money it would be better spent on a national health service or some crisps or something

  • As for a national health service--to hell with that--socialized medicine is worthless--but--The design of these aircraft is now over 50 years old, and the ones still in service are continuously rebuilt by Boeing as the Air Force still has no replacement for these aircraft. A hell of a lot cheaper than designing, testing and building a new bomber fleet.

  • The days of carpet bombing are over and have been since the 1950's. The B-52 is worthless in a modern combat situation you couldn't fly one within 1000 miles of Russia airspace without being intercepted. You can flatten an iraqi town but also could a few F-15s. But it dose hold a place in the hearts of alot of Americans.

  • Well thats why you send in the stealths to take out enemy radars and air defenses to achieve air superiority...oh wait thats right....the government cut spending on our best 5th generation fighter that was made to do just that. With everything thats been going on in North Korea lately, it wouldnt be very wise to let our gaurd down. A war in that country would be a very, very conventional battle.

  • Both Russia and the US still use strategic bombers originally designed in the 1950s as part of their nuclear triad. The B-52 and Tu-95 carry air launched nuclear cruise missiles. It is the stand off capability from thousands of miles away that makes them so effective.

  • its not stupid they keep them for spare parts, future needs and they dont want to sell them to other countries to be used on us or our allies

  • its just stupid how a ton of bombers get retired and end up in some random place

  • Random place you say?? Hmmn. Sounds like homework for you school girl.

  • ..you need to spend more time studying your history! are yyou actually an adult

  • there stored in a way so that if a major world war broke out we can bring them quickly back into service its so that we can save billions of dollars not having to maintain aircraft that were not using.

  • wy on earth do you need somany super bombers?

the age of carpet bombings is over. i think that was a wast of money.

  • Deterrent Mate !

  • thats exactly why they're there. its the surplus that was left over, we have a few of those graveyards in Tucson, AZ near the air force base

  • Spare parts, possible future needs.

  • like an attack from alians or illigal mexico imagrints (also known as alians)

  • all these bombers were made during the cold war so that america always had a significant force ready to retaliate if needed.

  • Pleas take care of this airplanes

  • 32°11'N 110°53'W

Yann Arthus Bertrand took a photo of this area.

But impossible to see it on Google Earth...

  • there are no b-2s at AMARC (the boneyard) .

  • Davis-Monthan Air Force Base

    Thats where this is.

  • i found this on google maps there are 2 personal jets some really old planes in there with the b-2 bombers and with the hornets there is one of em that is way different than the rest

  • It's easy to find on google map and google earth type in Davis Monthan Air Force Base

  • nice place for any kind of visual footage

  • sorry about sp and grammer in my last..geting used to the keyboard on this laptop no excuse but ehh..lol. I might add that. I have found this field on Google Earth. Go to maps and type in IMARC Arizona. This is the main US depository of obsolete or decomisioned go to down sizing aircraft..everything ranging from F-16s to B52 and F111s and A6s sit there in the desert being preserved for poss. reuse...export ,use as spare parts or recycleing. There are decresing #s of the mighty B52s every year.

  • actualy these aircraft are being recycled as we speak. They are 1st destroyed by crushinh and choping off parts such as the cockpits and tails..left for satilet images to be made of them for a few days to confirm they have been destroyed..then yes..the parts are recycled..some are saved and put into active B52s. Its all somewhat sad to see these awsome plans destroyed like that. It is a tribute to this plane that it is still part of the US arsenal today and untill at least 2014.

  • America owns the sky. Ohh yeah and the sea and land

  • I wonder why couldn't they recycle them so much aluminium.... and other metals/plastics, instead they let them rush there for nothing .

  • Their in "Mothballs" incase there needed again, forsay another world war. The samething happened to the b29s after Warld War 2, and they were used in korea

  • incase we need the for war agin

  • the song is down in the park..by gary numan..

  • Might be friends electric?

  • keep it all some B-52 planes are good conditions and keep it for war in the future

  • Does somebody know the songname ?

    pm me pls !

    thx

  • you must see it on google earth i'ts amazing!!

  • 32° 9'10.26"N110°49'19.94"W

    found it

  • I just google earthed it.....WOW!

    Cheers ;-)

  • If you want to take a plane from the middle... you must move them all:))
