Hi there.. Thanks for your informative video.. I have the exact setup and would like to remap the master fader, scene selection and cue button independently for apc20 and apc40 while keeping the remote functionality intact. You said in your video that there are two methods of doing that, but you actually did not talk about the other one [[first one being the quick and dirty solution which, as mentioned above does not work for me]].. Any chance you can clarify what the second option is??
will it be functionally similar if the 20 was on the left? because i dislike the center section idea, i want all 16 faders and grid to be as close as possible to make as if it's just 1 16 channel mixer, will that work the exact same for the mapping?
@muzik4machines: yeah, it doesn't matter at all. you can hook up up to 6 APCs (both 40s and 20s) in combination mode and it doesn't matter how you position them. just take care of the order in which you activate them inside ableton live - you'll figure it out on your own once you mess with the options :)
@traenq@traenq thanks a lot for the reply, i'm into rebuilding my whole setup around my future apc80 and this is good news
this and apc64-40 will be just crazy
only thing i still need to figure out is how to navigate my 750 scenes session (only about 24/30 tracks, but over 400 "songs" from dumping my whole electribes in live(i mean when going over their silly 125 scenes limit (i really dont know what they were thinking, 125 scenes is barely 10 songs in a proper live PA act)
@theloopmasta: you can find the skin editor over at sonictransfer [dot] com. the skins are located in resources > skins in your ableton folder, if you're not sure where exactly try searching for *.ask files. those are ableton skins.
@Aluminiferous: to my knowledge, no. it's about the height and width of a 49 key MIDIkeyboard, but slightly larger in depth so the usual hardcases are unlikely to fit (I've tried many). if you're low on $, you can get a gigbag for a keyboard first - but the ideal choice is to get a custom hardcase built to size. it's not cheap, but pays off in the long run. a hardcase might also provide a lazy man's solution for those who want to merge the PSUs and integrate a USB hub into the APC80 housing ;)
I build one yesterday and it is amazing. Have you found a solution to use only one power supply and USB cable. If I can eliminate extra plugs at live gigs it would be amazing. Thanks for the tutorial!
@cbertels1: with some clever soldering, you can surely use one PSU (of course you'd have to get a more powerful one). it's also possible to integrate a small unpowered USB hub into the casing - I was just too lazy, you know :) congrats on the successful build! I'm glad it worked out for so many people already.
@FYICREW: I made the build tutorial (linked to at the beginning of this video) because I knew in advance I wouldn't be able to make the time to offer a modding service... and even if I could - it says on your profile that you're based in the US, sending a pair of APCs to me (I live in germany) and back to you would be ridiculously expensive. for that money you could almost invite me over to build you one ;) seriously though: it's not that hard!

Does anybody know if there is a hard case that fits the APC80?

Will you consider constructing an apc80 for me if I pay you and send you the apc40 and 20?
