i have my own, very personal reasons, why i think this is my ( without any doubt) favorite piece of work he ever sang. at 1.17 his deep, meaningfull voice brings me to tears, every time. every year on this day i play this untill i fall asleep. thankyou and happy birthday. rob x
My favourite Presley performance. I love the bit 1.40 when he comes back for the second chorus with an amazing intensity in his voice. Much prefer this to the corny stuff like Jailhouse Rock and Hound Dog.
Thanks Jackie for uploading this magical song with a voice that was heaven on the ears. ELVIS= sings, dances, good looks, acts(if he got a chance with a decent movie) They broke the mould after he was born.
The things that this song did to a young girl of 10 yrs. can not ever be matched by any other artist ever again. When we lost Elvis we lost the greatest gift that God has ever given. RIP-- Elvis!
I adore Don Robertson's songs, and i am so thrilled that Elvis sang most of them, they give me goose bumps every time, and leave speechless, in wonder of how beautiful they are
where did u get all these rare (and generally beautiful) pics? I mean from all your videos... its just great to see something different.. thanks for it.
The nuances- and quite frankly- the sweetness of El's young voice just goes straight through my soul. This song is an absolute perfect showcase of his early vocal range- I LOVE IT!!
Another STELLAR vid from the hands, heart, and mind of Jackie.... 5x5 stars!!!
In 1955, Robertson had written a country song entitled IM COUNTING ON YOU, and the Aberbachs, a NY publishing firm, were enthusiastic. They promised they could get a big star to record it, Robertson says. Well, a few months later they said they were giving it to this new up-and-coming singer named Elvis Presley. I was thoroughly disappointed. I had never heard of Elvis Presley, and after all, they had promised me a big star.
Written by Don Robertson. Elvis recorded it on January 11, 1956 at rCAs Nashville studios. Backing vocals were Gordon Stoker, Ben Speer, and Brock Speer. It was the A-side to Im Counting on You. It is available on Elvis Presley and The King of Rock n Roll-The Complete 50s Masters.
This is such a very outstanding and underrated song. As you know, the very first Elvis album that this masterpiece appeared on was the 1956 album "Elvis Presley". That was Elvis' first album with the RCA label. I own the FTD two disc deluxe edition of this debut Elvis album. Kevan Budd did the audio restoration and mastering for this FTD release and the sound quality is greater than ever for this album. I consider Kevan Budd to be the best mastering engineer for Elvis albums. 10 Stars Jackie
