I think Steve Priest had the most fun with the fame of Sweet, seemed to laugh & joke allot. I recently read that he invited Brian to his oldest daughters wedding in 1996, and Brian attended. Brian died the next year. Great bassist, singer!
When Ballroom Blitz was released and I saw the non LP B-Syde Eye grabbed it! Then I turned most all of my "non-Sweet" friendz heads asking Who is that???? Fox On th'Run came next with "Burn On The Flame" and again "Who IS that??? It's Sweet stupid. Ya know, that "Bubble Gum" group you been pissin' awn?! "Give Us A Wink" burned onto my turntable and all luved it. Play "Healer", play "Yesterdaze Rain" und awn & awn. Steve was Hot, vibrant and alive with Fire. He was also VERY pretty! Scared Boys?
i'm thinking that the 2 dilikes had to be jokes and/or just to get attention - this is easily one of the top 5 Sweet songs, which is saying a lot, since even "average" Sweet tunes are pretty damn good - The Sweet of this vintage (with the exception of the earlier Wig Wam Bam and the later Fountain) seem to be at thier absolute zenith - perhaps the dises were from another planet ?!?! anyhow, SWEET dreams, my fellow torchbearers !!
I was 9 or 10 Y old i heare this this stuff , and my emotions said to me this is not of this world, i love this band now over 40 years , well also Satch,Zappa good fonky disco , Jazzy soul and in the late years some classic , why not, but when i heare this , i cant tell you my emotions , ist only GREAT to heare this sound this guys ,loove it so much, because this ? is from................

I met Steve and some of the lads at Pinewood Studio when they were rehearsing. I asked where Brian was as he was absent and that's when Steve came out with the awful gag about them now being 3 piece Sweet :o) Steve was good enough to chat before they got started, I hope he's well and doing ok!
=D just listened toPat Benatar cover...a comment from that page ..shows alot of praise.Fraevo10- 2 months ago_ The time signature of this track is just a complete mindfuck if you're a drummer! Also the way the vocals are layed out over the guitar riff during the verses is very difficult to time without ruining the song's flow. I was once in a band that attempted to cover this. We all gave up cuz we just couldn't get it right!! LOL. Awesome 'SWEET' track covered brilliantly by Benatar..
Well thank you so much for this video! Steve is my uncle and I'm sure he's already seen this, but I will forward it to him anyway!! Thanks again! He is pretty amazing!
There were so many great "Glam Rock" songs in the 70s which were heard in Detroit mainly on "CKLW, The big 8", but "Sweet" lead them all and was extremely under rated. They deserved far more commercial success.
Steve had natural charisma. Capable of physical violence. A dangerous aura. Like a Pan, with a lecherous sneer, rust in the blood and on the lips. A wild-man in deerskin with horns, carousing and bellowing cries of battles past. A desertion of the senses overtakes me when I look at his younger image in digital...desertion and abandon overtakes me...
What an colossal hottie. And since I'm a "going-on-50" ole lady, I reserve the right to say so!!!
For me, it wasn't so much his (uncontested) cuteness as his irresistible nuances....whether captured as an artist bent on his craft, or a cherub relishing in 'misbehaviour'.....He was SO dreamy!!
great to hear this i had been aware of the sweets rock roots thanks to their B sides of their 45's they had in the chatrs i recall the album Sweet FA coming out and buying it and playing it for my mates who doubted the sweet, i didn't tell them who it was, the list of bands they listed whilst guessing was a whose who of prime rock bands.

@superrsoakerr I just can't get enough of them! 24/7 their music is playing in my room, but the sad part is most of my friends and the people I know only like the rap/pop crap there is today, and I can't change them. But oh well, at least I know they were awesome :D
@jasmine16751 I, after 13 years of wondering why i hate the modern day "singers" finally realized why. Its because i love the Sweet and hate the 2000s cant help it, dont want to ;)
I never knew that Sweet did this song first before Pat Benetar (I had her album in the early 80s). I bought Fanny Adams 3 yrs back - and heard Sweet's version. FANTASTIC! Way to go Steve!
After Brian left in 1979, the majority of their songs.
Before 1979 he sang lead on No You Don't and Restless from Sweet Fanny Adams, Miss Demenaur from Strung Up, Hard Times from Off The Record, California Nights and Air on "A" Tape Loop from Level Headed.
He also sang most of the lead vocals on My Generation (The Who-cover) from Desolation Boulevard.
