I think Steve Priest had the most fun with the fame of Sweet, seemed to laugh & joke allot. I recently read that he invited Brian to his oldest daughters wedding in 1996, and Brian attended. Brian died the next year. Great bassist, singer!

When Ballroom Blitz was released and I saw the non LP B-Syde Eye grabbed it! Then I turned most all of my "non-Sweet" friendz heads asking Who is that???? Fox On th'Run came next with "Burn On The Flame" and again "Who IS that??? It's Sweet stupid. Ya know, that "Bubble Gum" group you been pissin' awn?! "Give Us A Wink" burned onto my turntable and all luved it. Play "Healer", play "Yesterdaze Rain" und awn & awn. Steve was Hot, vibrant and alive with Fire. He was also VERY pretty! Scared Boys?

i'm thinking that the 2 dilikes had to be jokes and/or just to get attention - this is easily one of the top 5 Sweet songs, which is saying a lot, since even "average" Sweet tunes are pretty damn good - The Sweet of this vintage (with the exception of the earlier Wig Wam Bam and the later Fountain) seem to be at thier absolute zenith - perhaps the dises were from another planet ?!?! anyhow, SWEET dreams, my fellow torchbearers !!

Also the way the vocals are layed out over the guitar riff during the verses is very difficult to time without ruining the song's flow. I was once in a band that attempted to cover this. There were so many great "Glam Rock" songs in the 70s which were heard in Detroit mainly on "CKLW, The big 8", but "Sweet" lead them all and was extremely under rated. They deserved far more commercial success.

great to hear this i had been aware of the sweets rock roots thanks to their B sides of their 45's they had in the chatrs i recall the album Sweet FA coming out and buying it and playing it for my mates who doubted the sweet, i didn't tell them who it was, the list of bands they listed whilst guessing was a whose who of prime rock bands.

Alas, 'Are you ready Steve?' is only available on pdf (disc) from sweet dot com, but it does come signed from Steve and a unique owner number for the buyer. But the book about Brian (The man who sang Blockbuster) IS still in print.... I got mine from Ebay- via sweet dot com.

I wish Steve would do a 2nd book, about his life AFTER Sweet. I don't think we'll see anything from Andy, until he's the 'last' one left.... IF he's the last one left!

Before 1979 he sang lead on No You Don't and Restless from Sweet Fanny Adams, Miss Demenaur from Strung Up, Hard Times from Off The Record, California Nights and Air on "A" Tape Loop from Level Headed.

He also sang most of the lead vocals on My Generation (The Who-cover) from Desolation Boulevard.
