On 6/24/11 the New York Senate approved same-sex marriage with the help of Republican votes, this demonstrates that Republicans are becoming divided because their intolerance goes against the modern day American culture of tolerance and acceptance.

Maggie Gallagher how come you think you are the role model for Marriage in America ? Your husband NEVER , EVER shows up with you at any of your speeches or rally's ? Are you married ? Or is he Ashamed of you ? You Hateful fat slob -
If conservatives claim to support the US constitution, then they are supporting a document that upholds secular law, not laws based on religious beliefs. The problem is I think people think that religion has greater authority than government.
I'm simply sick and tired to see Catholics relying on their religion to justify discrimination. There is no "right" to run an adoption agency and if you can't comply with anti-discriminatory laws, if you can't grow up and stop hating others because you feel like being homophobic, then you have no business 1) receiving tax-payers dollars and 2) having the responsability of placing children in appropriate families. THE END.
Catholic adoption agencies are "forced" to place children in gay families. Booohooohoooooo! What if an adoption charity refused to place a child in an interracial family? That WOULDN'T. EVEN. BE. AN. ISSUE. Such discrimination simply wouldn't be allowed and no one would complain about it, with good reason. Same thing with gay individuals. We don't have to "apologize" for who we are: this time is over. Now is the time to speak out against discrimination and demand our civil rights.
Maggie Gallagher, Brian Brown and those over at NOM hate gay people. THE END. Don't let them EVER convince you otherwise. Their sole purpose in life is to hurt loving, gay families, to insult the LGBT community by spreading lies and hatred, and alienating our families. The SOLE purpose of NOM is to prevent loving, committed gay couples from enjoying the same benefits from marriage. Anything else they claim is bullshit and I won't buy it.

But she has realized that demagoging against gay rights is big business, and since deciding to embrace hate her organization has recieved literallhy *millions* of dollars in donations. Hate is big business in America.
I am 100% for gay marriage, but this is not the appropriate time to do this. Now we have a momentum from the tea party which is mainly socially conservative. It's a golden opportunity to use it to halt the keynsian expansion of the federal gov't and start tackling the social security issue now that it's AT LAST on the table.
All the sullivans & mehlmans in the world can wait for a while outside the spotlight, because they alienate the socially conserative base and end up just being divisive.
@11thsockpuppet In other words, you're saying, "Now is not the time for equality and justice in America. Policy matters are more important than human rights."
Capitalism is the best system and guarantees freedom. But to secure free markets, the need for temporary restriction of some civil liberties might be deemed appropriate.
Hayek&Friedman recognized this; that's why they endorsed the rule of Pinochet in Chile.
Were there violations of human rights? Perhaps so, but you cannot ignore the 'Chilean miracle'.
Giving up some rights is a small price to pay if you are to secure freedom&prosperity
@11thsockpuppet We're getting a little off subject here, but why don't you ask those who were tortured and unjustly imprisoned about the so-called "Chilean miracle"?
Whining about some chilean commie being a little roughted up or the plight of the andean basketweavers is the job of the professional blame-USA/capitalism-first left. Have in mind that at the people that mattered had guaranteed freedom & prospertity.
Securing free enterprise&property rights is far more important mission than human rights. As i said, Freedman& Hayek got that. Ronald Reagan got it too; that's why he supported the contras.
@11thsockpuppet where im at, AS I SPEAK, there is PROTESTANT AND CATHOLIC CHRISTIAN symbols outside of the police station, on police property, in celebration of christmas.
this is GOVERNMENT PROPERTY, in violation of the first Amendment.
even though lots and lots of people here in America celebrate Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, and Ramadan.
Regarding the restriction of freedom of certain entities: I agree. But, the focus has to be first and foremost on the ones that pose a threat to the foundations of the free market system (entrepreneurial freedom&property rights). The leftists want to demolish exactly this. The KKK, the militia people & the christian right, eventhough they say and do completely abhorrent & idiotic stuff, they do acknowledge the value of those principles.
@11thsockpuppet "The KKK, the militia people & the christian right, eventhough they say and do completely abhorrent & idiotic stuff, they do acknowledge the value of those principles."
So that's who you're going to throw your lot in with? Principles and morality mean nothing to you? You'd make a deal with the devil to advance your own policies? Think about it. That's what the German people did when they elected Hitler. "Though he says abhorrent things, Hitler will take care of the Communists"
Plus,in the every instance of communist insurrection, the 'cultural right' people were the ones most willing even to give their lives to protect the free market ideals. You don't want to burn this bridge, especially in these times.
Re. the police station:Religious symbols on a gov't building are problematic. But this too is a result of the pervasive statism. Were the law enforcement agencies privatized, this would be a non issue; they would be FREE to use whatever decoration they want.
@11thsockpuppet and no, we're not going to privatize the government, so that you can hang your ornaments everywhere, even when the legality of it is challenged.
It was apparent right from the beginning that you are committed leftist, clinging to the big government nanny state and demonizing free entrepreneurship. No wonder that you are unable to make a single coherent argument.

@11thsockpuppet I also have the right to a public defender, who is not 70 years old, and my kids have the right to an Education, and we have the right to effective law enforcement by the state.

@Pineland24 Please try to keep it concise. If you are to argue against my positions, you are welcome, but buring my comments with comment spamming is really pathetic. I argue that the alliance of libertarians with social conservatives is beneficial and necessary. @11thsockpuppet "Re. the police station:Religious symbols on a gov't building are problematic. But this too is a result of the pervasive statism."
Oh come on! Gimme a break! Do you know how infinitessimally small the number of actual Satanists is? Do we have to see "SATAN!" behind every bush? Talk about fearmongering! It was the Founding Fathers who enshrined seperation of church and state into the Constitution. If you don't like it, talk to them, or move where the state fights Satan, like Iran
@11thsockpuppet I also find a RISE in racism and intollerance, during the approach of christmas, in cities that allow christmas ornaments to be hung on government property.
@11thsockpuppet "Securing free enterprise&property rights is far more important mission than human rights."
You, sir, have no conscience. Your comments are despicable and un-American. The Founding Fathers would be ashamed of such sentiments. I suggest you read the Declaration of Independence. Opposition to injustice was part of the reason America was founded. Please don't pretend to be a patriot.
@TheStrong32 Well, you cheered for sullivans support for reagan conservativism. What do you think this is?
Do you think that Reagan spat on the face of social conservatives with his speech on states' rights at philadelphia,ms? Or that he was putting human rights above free markets & property rights, when he financed the contras?
& don't lecture me about the founding fathers holding equality above property, because people that were property, REMAINED property after their revolution.
@11thsockpuppet Reagan also gave a speach at that racicst bastion, Bob Jones University. Human rights are definately more important than property rights, at least by any sane standard of morality.
@TheStrong32 So, you are pouring some hate on Ronald Reagan and the founding fathers. Nice...
So the question remains. Is there any position for gays in the conservative movement? Recall Scalia's dissenting opinion in lawrence v texas. I don't know any conservative whose view on Scalia's legal mind is anything less than genius.
@11thsockpuppet "So, you are pouring some hate on Ronald Reagan and the founding fathers. Nice..."
What? Hate? While I may disagree with some of Reagan's policies, I would hardly call it hate. As for the founding fathers, I have a lot more love and respect for them than you do, with your fascistic policies regarding torture and property above the people. The difference between you and me is that I actually take the writings of our founding fathers seriously and embrace what they stood for.
@11thsockpuppet "I don't know any conservative whose view on Scalia's legal mind is anything less than genius."
That's the problem with present-day conservatism: it's been hijacked by whack-a-doodles like Sarah Palin and Chistine O'Donnell, and is being led down the primrose path. Its forgotten what conervatism is really all about. Goldwatter and Reagan must be turning in their graves. Scallia's much more of an activist judge than Vaughn Walker ever was.
@11thsockpuppet "don't lecture me about the founding fathers holding equality above property, because people that were property, REMAINED property after their revolution."
Indeed. That was the great failure of the founding fathers, as some of them admitted in their writings. It ultimately led to the Civil War. And guess what: who do you think was responsible for holding us back on this issue? Southern conservatives. Things haven't changed much, have they?
@TheStrong32 The point is that all rights derive from property rights. By protecting them, ALL rights are secured, INCLUDING human rights.Gov't becomes tyranny when it loses the focus on property rights&expands on other things.
You brought up Goldwater. He too held that property rights were more important than civil rights. Thus, he was AGAINST the '64 civil rights act .
You affirm your view that the founding fathers & the major conservatives were failures.I doubt that you get Conservativism.
No, sorry, they are American. Ever hear of the Pledge of Allegiance: "with liberty and justice for all." Remember? What's carved above the entrance to the Supreme Court of the United States: "Equal Protection Under Law" Remember? The 14th Ammendment mandates "equal protection of the laws"
It is Fascists who think equality and justice are less important than national policy. Fascists also invented using "socialist" as a buzzword.
@ryandward That fatass wants the government to say what is natural and healthy right? Then she should not be able to wear glasses because they're unnatural and her body composition is unhealthy, so she should lose civil liberties until she complies with what the government demands of her as a natural, healthy human-being.
@ryandward That fatass wants government to say what is healthy and natural right? Then she should not be able to wear glasses due to glasses artificially helping her eye sight and lose weight due to her body composition being unhealthy. She should lose these civil liberties until she meets the standard of a natural, healthy human being.
Has Maggie developed some sort of a "tic"? All that shaking and jittering around, coupled with her defensive interrupting of the others on the panel, make me wonder if she hasn't suffered some sort of medical or mental challenge? Her lying was bad enough ... now this???
Anyone who tries to impose their own set of beliefs on any other person and uses force or the threat of force (laws as we know it) deserves to be fought against. physically is alright. throw a fucking brick threw these people's teeth.
Maggie is not a conservative she is just a bigot, I am gay and conservative and I don't see her arguing for conservatism just arguing against gay marriage. Ok we can be conservative but we don't have equal rights?
@questionsamson She has fucked up views on marriage and family. She really doesn't consider love to be a necessary component for marriage. I've heard her criticize how too many people enter into "soul mate" marriages.
I also love it when educated conservative women complain about feminism. If it weren't for feminism, they wouldn't be in the position that they're in now!
I can't stop laughing every time she speaks. Her fat jiggles all over her face it just makes me lol. I strongly disagree with her on the marriage stance though, who the fuck is she to come in between 2 loving, consenting adults?
It's interesting to note that while Maggie Gallagher is supposedly such an advocate for marriage to only be between a man and woman, yet you never hear or see her spouse. I would think that for a marriage that is supposedly so solid and so representative of the sanctity of marriage between man and woman that they would be inseparable. Where the hell is her husband?
Do you ever wonder why the so called expert on "marriage" the one and only Maggie Gallagher is never seen with her husband? If marriage is so great...why is he absent? The reason is Maggie Gallagher is married to a black man. She is in an interracial marriage. She is ASHAMED of her interracial marriage and is afraid that the conservative bigots that support her ideology will STOP DONATING to her scam organization NOM. Need Oppressive Money! 40% goes directly into her pocket.
There isn't a single thing that comes out of Maggie Gallagher's mouth that makes sense unless it is a lie or an unfounded or misinformed theory and this clip only helps illustrate that more.
Prove me wrong by translating what she said in the first part of the video (if you can pardon the Oprah head-banging)
Don't just love insecure people that fear losing control of ever aspect of their life that they need to "assert" more control like her. Clearly she has some self-esteem issues.
It's sad - but bigots, racists, & Corporate Whores now control a significant part of the Republican Party & It is difficult for Republicans to get elected in many areas without their support.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
The CATO Institute is a libertarian group. Libertarians constantly want to glom onto the conservatives, but they have no place in the conservative movement if they want to advocate for sodomites.
@steerpike66 I agree. Announcing that you are a social conservative is like a kiss of death in American politics. (ex. McCain and Palin lost miserably in the 2008 presidential election)
Just to clarify that Nick Herbert is "shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs". He is more like the an opposition party version of the US Secretary for Agriculture than the Secretary of State.

You, sir, have no conscience. Your comments are despicable and un-American. The Founding Fathers would be ashamed of such sentiments. I suggest you read the Declaration of Independence. Opposition to injustice was part of the reason America was founded. Please don't pretend to be a patriot.
TheStrong32 1 year ago

TheStrong32 1 year ago

TheStrong32 1 year ago

TheStrong32 1 year ago
@11thsockpuppet Why do you consider "Andean basketweavers" somehow less than human?
TheStrong32 1 year ago
@TheStrong32 The point is that all rights derive from property rights. By protecting them, ALL rights are secured, INCLUDING human rights.Gov't becomes tyranny when it loses the focus on property rights&expands on other things.
You brought up Goldwater. He too held that property rights were more important than civil rights. Thus, he was AGAINST the '64 civil rights act .
You affirm your view that the founding fathers & the major conservatives were failures.I doubt that you get Conservativism.

@11thsockpuppet "Equality&justice are socialist buzzwords."

Has Maggie developed some sort of a "tic"? All that shaking and jittering around, coupled with her defensive interrupting of the others on the panel, make me wonder if she hasn't suffered some sort of medical or mental challenge? Her lying was bad enough ... now this???

@fatcat669 I believe it was because of Ash Wednesday... Catholic thing.

@fatcat669 The black mark is a symbol of ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, and a sign of repentance.
According to catholocism it is a time to repent for something you have done wrong.
This tradition is practiced before the coming of the lord.

Maggie is not a conservative she is just a bigot, I am gay and conservative and I don't see her arguing for conservatism just arguing against gay marriage. Ok we can be conservative but we don't have equal rights?
questionsamson 1 year ago
@questionsamson She has fucked up views on marriage and family. She really doesn't consider love to be a necessary component for marriage. I've heard her criticize how too many people enter into "soul mate" marriages.
I also love it when educated conservative women complain about feminism. If it weren't for feminism, they wouldn't be in the position that they're in now!

MidwestN8TV 1 year ago
