Yes, it's a cheap solution and I feel like it's improved my putting game. It helps because there's no chains, so I work harder to drop it from above. That is, I'm not shooting and hope I hit chains (and if I miss, I may have another long put). If I miss, I usually lay within 4 feet of the can and that translates into controlled, reliable puts that can shave a stroke off my game.
I practice putting into a trash can.
