He really was a great driver and the fans probably were sure that he was going to become a world champion one day.It was just matter of time.He deserved to win the 2005 WDC tittle too,by the way.
Kimi had probably the worst luck in his 9 seasons in F1, 8 of which in a top team (5 McLaren, 3 Ferrari). He was the Champion in 2007, due to car reliability problems almost 2003 and 2005, he was massively quick in 2008 (setting 10 fastest laps in 12 consecutive races) in a non-dominant car (McLaren were competitive), but didn't get the title, and he had a totally incompetitive and/or unreliable car in 2002, 2004, 2006, and 2009. So, basically, HIS only semi-failure is 2008 (but remember LH!).
