well if you want a good movie try to find "Wrist Cutters" its a film about a guy who committees suicide by slitting his wrist and finds himself in another world filled with everyone who has committed suicide. After a few days he finds out that his girlfriend had committed suicide and goes on a "quest" to find her. Its actually really good and it does make you think, it has a plot twist you wouldn't see coming until the end.

im sure you watched the big lebowski when you where 8. you cant expect to watch an epic childs movie as an adult and have the same effect. granted when i come across friends who havent seen "that movie" i dont expect them to watch it 15 years past the recommended viewing age. although the labyrinth is only good to adults if your really stoned or on ther drugs( talking muppets will always freak you out on acid)
