yes this is so true,i have been condemed by so many "christians" when trouble came into my life, it was almost like Since God isn't blessing me ,i was some how defective and shuned by the church, mostly the ministry and leadership,bUT TROUBLES COME IN LIFE AND WE WILL COLLAPSE UNDER THEM,i have many times.
2Cor.1:8-9 does not say God put burdens on Paul, nor does it say that He allowed it. It only says God delivered them and that made them trust Him. How could a loving God burden to teach when even we do not burden our children to teach them ... If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? (Matt. 7:11). God teaches us through His Word and His Spirit (2 Tim. 3:16, John 16:13).
I don't believe God put burdens on Paul. It is Satan who comes to kill, steal and destroy. Jesus said "I come that you might have life, and that more abundantly." Jesus is the burden bearer. Once again, it is pretty simple. . . God is good to me. Satan is evil.
Read that passage again bro the key is they were burdened beyond "their strength".... "thier strenght," there aint much we can do at all by our own strength though
This is my favorite "lie" so far - It's amazing how so many things we assume are in the bible are just not there - God does give Christians more than we can bear at times, but it's always for a good purpose.
However I think the following verse applies to the Gentiles being brought to faith: A battered reed He will not break off, and a smoldering wick He will not put out, until He leads justice to victory. And in his name the Gentiles will hope. -Matt 12:20-21
I don't see anywhere in that passage (2 Cor 1:8-11) where it says God was the source of Paul's trouble. God delivers us but he's not the one beating on us to 'teach' us something.
I didn't say God was the source of it. I said he allowed it to teach Paul not to depend on Himself, but on God. Even Job couldn't be attacked until God permitted it. No, He's not the one "beating us," but he gives His permission for it to happen. Ask Job.

Totally awesome, and makes so much sense. This is spoken as 'gospel' by everyone I know, including myself. Not anymore! Thank you.
