This is not true multiplayer, just a script that uses respawning bots to experiment with multiplayer-like gameplay (and to mess with people's minds ^_^ ).

And in any case online multiplayer probably can't happen for melee-oriented games like Oni. LAN at the most (check out the Lugaru 2 project for example).

yes it can, at least they had it in Beta stage, it worked pretty good, dunno why they took it out...

Loosecannon16, I assume that by "it" you mean Oni online multiplayer (i.e., over the internet rather than over LAN).

To the best of my knowledge, Oni multiplayer was only played over local networks; slower connections mean more lag, and the hand-to-hand combat would have been very frustrating... The "absolute" need for a fast connection was one of the reasons why multiplayer was cut.

Also, multiplayer was not available to the beta testers. Like the Iron Demon robot, it was cut at alpha stage.

precisely. however i entered in the beta stage of it, i did tasted the potential multiplayer, although i ve never seen the big bot myself.

they projected a internet mode, yes it was laggy like hell. but in LAN mode the game was astounding, like you sad, prolly it was the reason. Still if they did at least sort of a Skirmish at console versions would be a lot of fun value.

They abandoned MP mode on RC phase, the nearest attempt is the arena mode, which is still underway by Oni Community, someday we may see it working as a MP mode...

I doubt it,cause you need the cheats (cheats only activate if you ended the game,so don't know if demo has those)and if you did manage,you would have a real weak variety of characters.
